What did you do to your JK today?

I consider myself somewhat fortunate in that I've had her for going on 8 years, put 100k miles on her and have not had the first issue aside from a t-stat gone bad a few years back. This is her first time on a lift getting a full-tilt inspection from stem to stern and addressing all of the...

    Deleting daytime running lights

When I swapped my OEM fogs for LEDs several years ago, I used the Jscan to enable the DRLs using my fogs. I prefer it that way. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought DRLs were required in Canada?

What did you do to your JK today?

Put her in the shop this morning. Probably won't see her for a couple weeks. Started getting the top end tap, probably a lifter, so off we went. Found a highly reputable shop about 35 miles away. They are certified to install Fraser crate engines and offer a 24k warranty on engine work...

    Mystery Tailgate Harness

Certainly looks like an aftermarket installation. Perhaps there was a backup cam at some point. Might want to check local inspection of a 3rd brakelight is required.

17 JKU with 35s program tire size

Measure each from the ground to the top of the tire, to the nearest 1/4". Add all 4, then divide by 4 to get the average- use that number for your JScan app or ProCal or whatever you're using.

    Replacing key fob shell

I replaced mine simply because the buttons wore out. Had a local hardware store cut the key and put the guts into the new fob without having to reprogram. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BNPX4E4?tag=jkforum-20

    2015 Jeep JK overheating

Before you drop a chunk of change on the new axles..... get your machine re-geared before you break something serious. Here are gearing charts for the 3.6 both auto and manual transmissions that show you where your rear end needs to be:

    Turn signal issue?

If I'm not mistaken, you can change the number of signals/flashes on JScan. I could be wrong. I drive a Ford Transit van as part of the volunteer work I do and turn signal flashes can be changed right on the dash menu options.

This Happened: Hoping for an Explanation

I replaced both battery clamps and checked all the grounds when I put in the new battery. It's been cold overnite a few times lately, but the air is so dry there's no frost or moisture in the air.

This Happened: Hoping for an Explanation

Yesterday morning, before taking the dogs to the dog park, my JKU wouldn't start with the remote. It was 29 F. Thought it might be due to gas being low, but I would have noticed. Nonetheless, I went outside to start it and the remote wouldn't unlock it, either. So, inserting the key, I manually...

Best setup for road and trail

2014 JKU Sahara. 2.5" lift with 35x12.5; 3.73 rear end. Adding an 80lb front steel bumper dropped the lift closer to 2", but still plenty of room for the 35s. Added Pedal Commander for a better throttle response and it does very well on moderate trails and will still run 70+ on the interstate at...

Your opinions on dealer recommended repairs?

Was this at a Chrysler/Jeep dealership? If so, I would be going directly to Stellaris HQ and not stopping until I either had someone's head on a platter or a lot of my repairs were being comp'd. A dealership fugging with your credit? I'm not letting that go under any circumstance.

Your opinions on dealer recommended repairs?

These are small, pre-cut pieces for the corners and a couple edges on the removable panels. For the perimeter seals, I bought some generic flat, single side adhesive famm weather strip from Lowe's and added it right over the top of the old stuff. It gets so compressed when the top is on, I...

Your opinions on dealer recommended repairs?

A few years ago I had the same thermostat stuck open adventure. Did all the work myself, and the expenses were the $30 or so for a new t-stat with housing and the cost of the coolant. It took more time to refill the coolant and burp the system doing it than the actual work of replacing the...

    What is my JK worth?

    1. Pics might help. 2. A motor with 70,000 miles is not "new." And, if you said the motor was "new" with 70k miles on it, how many miles are on the "new" tires? 3. Maintenance record? Have you consistently changed the oil, trans, diff fluids as scheduled? Not trying to be a smartass, just...

What did you do to your JK today?

The notorious 3.6L knock/tick started a week or so ago at 130k. I need to find a mechanic within 500 miles I can drop it off and have a complete workover done on the motor and trust it'll be done right so I can get another 100k out of her. Maybe I can drive it out to Dirty Dog, leave it and fly...
