What did you do to your JK today?

The bumpers had a good quality coating from the factory, as they're fabfours bumpers. And the original owner of the JK coated them with rhino liner when brand new. As he did to the front grill.

Ive touched them up in the summer (because they've faded oddly) w Rustoleum bed liner rattle can paint. Decent stuff. Ive had fantastic results with in on other steel items that are exposed to all seasons.

I bought a couple of THESE Rain-X kits from Amazon. They're super simple to use. She had two chips, but I only fixed one yesterday. I'll do a write up when I fix the other one.

Another grandkid is old enough to learn to drive. Got his permit 4-5 weeks ago. Snowed last night. Schools are all on a delay. So I took him to school early and we did donuts in the parking lot so he could learn to deal with sliding. And then did 4WD so he could learn what 4WD does in the snow, and what it doesn't.

My daughter turned 12 and got behind the wheel of my Jeep. By the time she's 16, she'll be a pro on and off road.

Fixed the rear window defroster connector.
I aligned the cap to the original orientation on the window so that it would sit as flat as possible.
Then I gripped the part with a set of long nose pliers and heated the shit out of it with a MAPP torch.
When it was hot, I added solder, and then reheated it again until it was damn near red hot.
Then I pressed it into place and let the extra heat melt the factory solder and blend to the new solder.
I held it in place until it cooled down.
After it was cold, I pushed the terminal back on and done...

I feel really good about this since I didn't remove the rear glass, didn't break it, and it only took about 5 minutes to do.

I live to do donuts in the snow, that is why my J6 fuse is pulled.

Went jeeping up to Wentworth Springs and did some playing in the snow. Stop for lunch, boy comes over and says “my Jeep is stuck in 4 low”. Sure enough the lever moved freely. Heard of this, but no experience with it,. He drove it for while, then the snow ended. So figured it was an issue at the lever, Tore apart the center console and that linkage was “okay” sort of. The plastic was pretty much ready to fall apart. Wasn’t the issue though. Did some more climbing around underneath and finally was able to see the issue, the linkage just came off. Managed to position it and get it slipped back on enough to get back to 2WD. A little wiser for the next time. Anyways here is a picture of the area in case it helps anyone in the future and it seems to be a common issue. His Jeep is a 2007, JK 3.8 with an automatic.

Changed engine oil & filter.
Than brought in Jeep to have Trans Fluid & filter
changed . No idea when that was done last or ever...
It resolved the the 50KM, 1200 RPM vibration I was
having and getting worse. Me thinks trans fluid was
waaaay past life expectancy or filter possibly clogged
up restricting flow. Not a trans person myself "lol" so not
entirely sure as didn't speak directly with mechanic.
But it's running smooth as silk and shifting as it should .

Spooky, any bears? The topic has never came up when I talk to my Mining College buddy who is north of you in Fanny Bay. He still has my German K98 bolt action WWII rifle, he won off me in a poker game. LOL I bought it at our local Canadian Tire for a $100 over 40yrs ago for Moose hunting. Never did harvest a Moose, thank Goodness for grocery stores.

Back from wheeling at Brown's Camp over the weekend...took our JK and TJ and did Power line, Bates Trail, Firepower and Cedar Tree. Accidentally did a small section of Crusher and got about halfway through Firebreak. Got some great videos for YouTube once I finish editing.

Today I pulled the intake off the JK and replaced the oil cooler with an all aluminum Dorman... really impressed with the construction and it came with new sensors and seals. Also replaced the coils and plugs...no maintenance history on this 2012 so I am assuming these are the originals with some 150k miles.

Valley was full of oil...took a lot of towels and break clean. Intake and throttle body were a mess. Broke 5 of the 6 coil plugs and zip tied the plugs to the coils. Going to find replacements and depin the originals.

YouTube videos make it look too easy. Took most of the day.

I've seen bears in this specific area a couple times.
It's very secluded so will come across them on the trail.
They sorta panic and start running than bolt off the trail.
When I do see one will stop and give them a couple mins
so they don't think being chased. Saw a mom & cub in the
spring. Didn't see any yesterday .
Think Canadian Tire still sells hunting rifles.

much of a hassle.
Went to do my plugs on the weekend.
The boots are seized to the plug. Didn't
want to destroy the wires as don't
have any replacements just yet.
Now kinda thinking about just bringimg
it in to get plug s done. Sounds silly but
I'm also concerned about getting the actual
plug out . I have no idea how long these
have been in.

Cut the top of the boot where it meets the coil...stretchy enough to pull up some...then fill some of the boot with silicone spray and it'll come right off...they spray some break free in for the spark plugs.

Mine have been in for 12yrs. I got the easy one out (and that was a Bitch), it was okay, gap to spec. I only have 72K Kilometers on the the JK, so forget the other 5. They will out live me.
