Geez that blows. The very least you discovered at home. Cause imagine if you blew out a tire on some sketchy Hwy mountain pass, 11PM, no cell signal, pouring rain . And you couldn't change the tire cause shop way over torqued . Yeah that's not cool. Not a good weekend for this JKU. Went to the ECU-Navy game Saturday night and came home victorious in 2 OT. But, I picked up a nail or something coming home because when I got up Sunday, I had a very flat left front. I was going to rotate tires this week anyway, but I was worried this was going to cost me 2 new tires if it wasn't a repairable puncture. Hell, my tires aren't even a year old yet...
One of the mechanics at my tire guy's shop must have gone crazy with the impact wrench because I snapped a ratchet extension trying to break the lug nuts loose. 75lbs of torque, right? 275 might be closer to reality.... Anyway, all the lug nuts are buggered and I ordered a set today. I'll spend tomorrow removing and replacing one lug nut at a time... not gonna be fun.
Nice looking bumpers . If you hadn't mentioned seperate purchase I would have thought sameIt is the Hooke Road model linked above.
Got it for only $125.
Looking for suggestions on ways to wire up the lights.
I figured inboard to replace the factory fogs, and possibly connecting the outboard to the hi-beam circuit (w/ a relay), and the center on an aux switch (also w/ a relay).
Any other ideas worth considering?
Ooooh she a thick girl haha
No overhead switch pod (so far), but I think there may be room for an additional factory style switch along the dash/console area beneath the radio & HVAC controls. If not there, I'll probably configure something for that area below the vent on the left of the steering wheel (where the sway bar and locker switches are).Nice looking bumpers . manufacturer. If it was me I would just wire the all 4 outboards to the fog.
The centre light bar to its own switch. Do you have a overhead pod switch you can hook light bar up to .
Haha Yes she is!Ooooh she a thick girl haha
I’ve thought about switching my Metalcloak tbs to steer smarts, as they make a rear one now too. I have made a lot of ride adjustments over the years and would like to have ones you can adjust in place. I really don’t like having to drop it every time.
Yeah that’s a good idea . Put n a factory switch below the stereo . I feel like most of the aftermarket switches don't fit w/ the look of the factory stuff and it triggers my OCD.
That looks awesome !!Did a little decorating for the holiday. I wired skeleton Steve's red eyes to my parking lights.

Yeah, be sure to post some pictures of it in as well! I have steer smarts tie rod and drag link. Quality stuff!Haha Yes she is!
It’s tough to really appreciate the size threw a photo . When you hold it in your hand and take a close look at it . Very well engineered & built .
MC makes good gear . That was the direction originally going to go but not readily available in Canada or on eBay or Amazon .
Not sure if you read my post couple months ago . I have a Core 4x4 track bar that’s hitting diff cover when stretching things out . Jam nut also hits frame side TB mount
The Core is well built but not in the same league as Steer Smarts . The Steersmarts is designed in a way to give max clearance to Diff cover . It’s angled forward and the bend closely replicates factory . Plus super easy to adjust .
Will be installing this weekend and will do a separate thread comparing the Core vs Steersmarts side by side
Oh there will be pics my friend . Many of them . CORE won't be thrilled butYeah, be sure to post some pictures of it in as well! I have steer smarts tie rod and drag link. Quality stuff!
Third time . That’s not goodNothing at all because for the 3rd time I have covid. Grumble.
My wife was having a problems in a couple of lug nuts so I just decided to replace them all before ending up on the trail somewhere and not be able to get them off. Worth the piece of mind.Follow-up on the wheel/tire situation I encountered over the weekend.
Ordered new lug nuts, they arrived yesterday and I began replacing them this morning. The chrome capped lug nuts (PO) were a mess, and it took nearly 2 hours to get them off. Got to the last wheel (right front) and, guess what? No lug nut. But it didn't take long to figure out why- the stud was stripped.
Got a new stud installed in about 20 minutes, got all the lug nuts on hand torqued them myself to 100 lbs.
Oh, and did my front brakes as well.
I have a new seal kit for the freedom top, but I'll wait for Hurricane Ian to pass by Friday-Saturday. May have some time to put it on Sunday.
