What did you do to your JK today?

Rough day in the garage today...
I lost one of these off my head unit a while back. Replaced it today. I think I better sit down and put my feet up for a while...

Nice, how do you like it?
I like it just fine. As I said elsewhere, this, in combination with some other upgrades, have yielded a 30-35HP boost, according to an app called Dynochart.
I think it sounds as good as a V6 is going to. I can certainly be a fool at times, but I'm not fool enough to expect it to sound (or perform) like my 23 year old Chevy Shitbox.

If I can get it to sound similar to stock I’d be happy as long as it is high clearance. Don’t want too much restriction, maybe just remove the rear one and add a smaller one inline pre axle.

I looove the way my 96 dodge with flow aster and dual exhaust sounds. So deep. Maybe one day I’ll do a V8 swap on the Jeep when this powertrain craps out.

Wouldn't necessarily have to be smaller. You could use one with less diameter but more length. Spintech make some really nice low-profile mufflers.

JK Gear & Gadgets did an install viideo of an inline Magnaflow muffler .
Sounded pretty good when he was done .

Nice day today, and I spent most of it in the garage.
I swapped out the dome and license plate lights in both Jeeps for LEDs.

I removed my third brake light and put one behind the spare tire.

I swapped my review mirror for a screen.

I swapped on an Angry Birds grill.

Productive day, overall.
The rear view mirror. Is it an actual
monitor that rear view cam gets hooked up to.
Was looking at those.
How do you like ?

It is a screen that covers your regular rearview mirror. You can think of it as a backup cam that stays on all the time. When it's turned off, it also functions just like your OEM rearview, just a little bigger.

I have not gotten to really use it yet. When I plugged everything in, the rear camera didn't connect. The plug on that cable is bent, and I assume broken. I probably stepped on it or something. I emailed the manufacturer and they are sending me a replacement. I'll write it all up as soon as I get that.

Today, I'm not planning to do anything to either JK. I'm doing beta testing for Diablo 4, so I'm obligated to spend the day playing. Poor me.

Not feeling great today. Yesterday we got the latest Covid vaccine, plus flu, pneumonia, and shingles. Feel crappy today, but it'll be fine by tomorrow. It's the feeling of your immune system ramping up.

As a result, I didn't have much ooomph today. Looked in the garage and I have the front dash and tweeters for my Jeep, plus the soundbar speakers in hers. That feels like a lot. What else? Ooooh, I've got a new biometric holster. That's super easy, so I installed it.

Today, I replaced the speakers in the other Wrangler, and the windscreen light bar on mine. I went through the car wash and the brushes tilted the bar upwards. So when I got home, I realigned it. Then some idiot (that would be me) managed to strip the drivers side bolt.

New fog, trail, and rear lighting has begun.
Not being able to easily make the factory fog light switch work for these new LEDs, and needing at least (2) more switches for the center light and the rears anyway, I just ordered this:

Next is a SPDT switch that matches the above to control these as either On manually (from a IGN source)/OFF/On when in reverse.

This should be a fun project to do while drinking beer in the garage.

Changed the oil in mine and added one of THESE to the pan, since we were talking about them in another thread. I haven't used this one yet, but I have used them on other vehicles in the past, and they really are no-mess. Should make future oil changes easier. If anybody else decides to try these, you're going to need a big wrench. The plug is 15/16". Makes sense, since you're never taking it out and making it big means the knurled bit that covers the valve will be big enough to easily remove by hand.

It was a particularly fun oil change. The dealer had changed the oil. I have put 1200-1300 miles on it. I am frankly amazed that they drain plug wasn't stripped out, because that sucker was really cranked down. I lifted myself off the creeper with a 2 foot breaker bar without budging it. I'm 6'1", 220lbs. So I broke out the impact wrench to get it out.

I hear rumors that oil cooler leaks are a common problem. Is that with the 3.8L or the 3.6L, or both?

Switch pods are the bomb . I have an over head one .
Adding lights or other components is easy .
Since all intergrated into one keeps things looking clean .

Kinda surprised couldn't get fogs working with factory
switch . IDK maybe factory switch is not working ?

I live life on the edge . Unbolt oil drain plug , oil drains into large
bucket . Not completely on the edge , always cardboard underneath
in case I spill . That's how real men change oil . Haha

Overtightning the drain plug , UGH. That's nuts you had tried
breaker bar than your impact . Cause your right . Could have easily stripped
threads . Than your talking about dropping oil pan etc .
Glad it wasn't messed up .

3.8 doesn't have oil cooler.
3.6 maybe , don't have one of those .
