Thor had the binary odometer a few weeks ago.
While we were in Moab, my turn signals started acting up off & on. Start the engine, everything is good. In anything from 1-30 minutes, the right turn signal would trigger the "dead bulb" dash warning. Some time after that, the left would do the same. Always the right one first, and restarting the engine always fixes it. I figured the multifunction switch was going bad, so I swapped it today. Didn't fix it.
I was baffled, so I went on to another project. Installing a Midland MXT400 and 6db antenna. Got that installed, handed Mrs. Dog a hand held unit and headed down the road to test it. Worked great. We're in a rural area. I drove about 5 miles and everything was still clear. I did discover an interesting interaction.
My antenna is mounted on the drivers front fender. The MXT400 can transmit at 3 different power levels; low (0.5W) Medium (5W) and High (40W). With the transmitter set to High, the Wolfbox screen blanks during broadcast. Reception doesn't have any effect, nor does broadcasting on Medium or Low power. I suspect it's a matter of the antenna being in close proximity to the screen. Were it mounted on the tailgate, I might well not interfere even on High power.
Oh, and while I was on that drive, the blinkers worked perfectly.
