What did you do to your JK today?

Purchased my 2017 JKU in January and wasted no time deleting the rear seats and adding a cargodog storage system, rotopax water holders, and Quadratec rock sliders before my hip replacement earlier this month. Hoping to heal up enough soon to actually get this out on the trails.

Looks nice! I added a stainless steel spigot and brass breather to my water cans. I was wasting too much water trying to "pour slowly."

Why don't you do a Build on this so that you can help other Members who might want to do this and know where and what parts they will need?
Had a shop do it, This is above my pay grade. Crate 6.2L LS3, 6L90 Transmission, RPM Extreme Conversion Package. Not sure where else I can help. I do have the RPM extreme instructions.

I’m exposing my stupidity, what in the world is a LS swap anyways? I see it on here, on the TJ forum and have no idea what it is referring too. The Hemi I understand

Chevy small block V8 engines have always been the King of engine swaps because they're incredibly easy to find, incredibly easy to modify, and incredibly easy to install. The current most popular V8 engine swap is the LS-series, used in everything from trucks to Corvettes. Swapping in an LS is so ubiquitous that the mantra "LS swap the world" is commonly heard.
You can get iron block or (lighter) all aluminum engines, with displacement running anywhere from 5.3L to 7L (more with aftermarket builds). I've got a supercharged aluminum LS3 (6.2L) in my Vette making 850HP on pump gas. And there are plenty of ways to make even more.
The JK Wrangler is quite heavy and has the drag coefficient of a barn. More power can only be considered a good thing.

I’m surprised I didn’t realize this. Until recently all we have had is Suburbans and Silverados (well the Smart car too). Now all we have are Jeeps (one of the kids bought the Smart). Chevy makes a great engine. Though I do love the I-6 in the LJ!

Took Moby out for a local spin again today; no codes, no stumbling, etc. BUT…
With the original ECU installed, my remote locks no longer function.

Here’s the roadmap thus far:
Failed CPS; replaced w/ aftermarket, cleared codes and drove it for a few weeks.
Lightning bolt, limp mode and codes; took it to the dealer who tried to charge me to swap my current sensors w/ known-good sensors from another Jeep… no thanks, replace the aftermarket one w/ a factory part and all was good.

Stumble, limp mode, & codes returned; replaced plugs (badly needed) and coil packs (for good measure).
Cleared codes and they returned almost immediately.

Purchased a pre-programmed ECU; installed and vehicle wouldn’t run more than a few seconds, then wouldn’t even start. VIN programmed into ECU didn’t match our vehicle (NOT plug & play as advertised).

Removed new ECU & reinstalled original ECU; vehicle starts and seems to be running w/o issue. Took a couple short drives and learned the lock/unlock/remote start doesn’t work. Remote start could be due to an active code, but the locks should work.

Returned replacement ECU for refund due to not being P&P as advertised.

Now I have my original ECU in, it runs and drives as expected, but no lock/unlock which SUCKS.

Next step is to reach out to my contact at JSCAN to see if they can help me get these locks working again.
I’ve programmed new keys before, but never “fixed” a non-working one.

This had better work.

On a whim, I swapped the battery on my non-working factory key and to my surprise, the locks now work as expected!
For giggles, I measured the voltage on the old FOB battery and was shocked to see less than 2V now, when I measured it the other day it was over 3V… strange.

That fixed the factory key, but my 2 flip-out keys still do not work the locks. 🤷‍♂️

Since I programmed these 2 keys using JSCAN, I’ll see if they can “re-learn” whatever went bad with them.

I retrieved the key code using JSCAN and I supposedly "reprogrammed" my flip key - which had stopped working last year, but had previously worked for all functions.
Not really looking for help anymore, as a bit of digging on the JSCAN site on my part has lead me to the light at the end of this particular rabbit hole...

I don't know how long this notice has been posted, as I followed the same programming instructions to program the flip keys over a year ago when I bought them without any issues.
It's actually the main reason I purchased JSCAN. :ROFLMAO:
I somehow got lucky for a while with working flip keys.
In any case, the flip keys are still able to be used to start and drive the vehicle, but the remote functions no longer work.

If we end up keeping the thing, then I'll worry about getting the flip keys programmed by a pro at a later time .
I just want the damned vehicle to drive and be somewhat reliable. I can handle maintenance, replacing and/or upgrading broken or worn out mechanical shit, but the electronics on this vehicle is just plain STUPID.

The lead engineer of this design should be banished for all of eternity.

Sorry about all the trouble. It is one reason more I like the LJ, a lot less electronics. You should have seen my smile when I leaned it didn’t have ABS and no wheel speed sensors. I hate that ABS when off roading. Yes I know about turning it off but still hate it.

BTW we have the same issue with the key we bought. It starts and runs but none of the remote functions work on it.

Over the past couple days, we successfully drove the vehicle for a few short, and very local errands without issue & I THOUGHT my problems with this piece of shit MIGHT be behind us, but alas... the lighting bolt has returned!
I'm 100% done now. Told the wife to sell it, trade it in, park it in a vacant lot & burn it to the ground, I don't care.

This is the last Jeep I'll ever purchase.

Sorry to hear this, that is frustrating. Don’t throw that TJ out with the JK though.

Haven’t been off road all winter so it felt awesome to go out for a few hours and get dirty !!
Ordered a new rad this evening . Multiple leaks right now from a Spectre rad that is only a couple years old .
Was hoping to go OEM but $1K CDN . Going with a Crown . Have three other crown parts with no issues so hopefully rad holds up $330 CDN .
Single core .

It’s been awhile hopefully everybody is doing well :)

Great White North! Glad your back🍺🍺

Checked on my carpet order annnnnd it was still sitting in the cart. Yay. Soooo...I made a trip to Hobby Lobby today. All fabric by the yard was 40% off. Bought 3 yards of black felt fabric. I got everything covered. The wind was NOT helping but I think it still turned out OK.

Looks great! I also made cargo drawer with soft carpeting. And extend it with sleeping platform and kitchen.
