What did you do to your JK today?

Let's say next generation...

The JK driver's, even the soccer mom's, wave around here and in Chattanooga where I work. The JL, JT not so much.

I’ve noticed that here in so cal too. I bought my JK last summer. The TJ would get stares more than waves. lol. One of my new JK buddies put a hand waving decal on their windshield because they were tired of waving.

I was on the other forum as well. It had lots of info and solid content. This was my TJ:

Sweet!! I can't/am not parting with my TJ!!!! It will be the weekend fun run and trail toy!!!!!

My JKU will be more of a daily driver light forest service roads, mall crawler.... closest mall is 45 miles away..

I miss mine. The family outgrew it. It was a trailer queen too. The JK we can drive to the trails, it does 70+ with one hand. My TJ had a 5:1 atlas II and 4.56 gears, great for crawling but topped out at 55. Overall, the JK gets used more. It is always loaded for fun and gassed up. Maybe later, an LJ!

My TJ only gets driven on the road now between the cabin/hotel and the trail and occasionally to dinner after a day on the trail. I haul it from home to wherever we are going. It is still capable of road driving, but I don't want to take a chance on getting a ticket because of not having the factory seatbelts, beadlocks, etc. Also because I know the types of trails we go on and I don't want to have to rely on the TJ to get me home. And my Silverado is much more comfortable to drive 3-8 hours than the TJ .

My 06 Rubicon, is set up to where the OD turns off when I put it in gear.

Still has the 4.10 gears and TC, 33 12.50 15, just can switch the overdrive on and have run 85-90 by my GPS.

Granted the JK will run 70 with stock 3.73 gears and 285 75 16's but at that speed neither of them get good fuel mileage

No matter the Wrangler, it is driving a brick. Aerodynamics was not a consideration.

My tires held up good, even at 24.5 psi, the Kenda klever MT's are still doing great!!!!

I had the 2000 automatic, 3sp. great trans but no od. Fuel mileage? I get about 7 in my current ride.How did you setup the trans to go non od? Good idea.

My buddy Andy found it on the TJ forum and set it up before I bought BB from him.

It really saves the 42rle from going in and out of OD with larger tires and still wheels great.

I only turn the OD on for long flat stretches of hwy.

I also moved my locker pumps to the ABS tray(don't have ABS) and wired them independent. That was a Jerry Bransford idea.

Agreed the JK’s are much smoother. Certainly understand about outgrowing a TJ. I had YJ for years. Outgrew it too. Then took me about a year to find the LJ I wanted. One time owner, mostly stock and benefit was a Rubicon, at least it was a benefit for me. Added a 3” suspension lift, 33” tires and it already had a York compressor for air.

No turn in needed. My NV3550 is getting replaced with an automatic this winter. Even with the hand throttle, I still want an auto for the rocks.

I just want a JK in a CJ or TJ sized package. Giving me the technology updates from 2007 so that its drivable on interstate speeds on long trips but still has the classic Jeep compact look and I can fit a modern 10 inch touch screen head unit in there.

Nope, keep the man card. Nothing wrong the automatic, except I don’t know how to wheel in them . My kid and wife’s ask me questions and I have to keep learning and asking others what to do.

I do want to install one of those throttle knobs that go on the stick shift.

The hand throttle is great with a manual.
