What did you do to your JK today?

Working 5 mins away from home kills my battery. I got tired of lifting my hood to hook up my battery tender. So, I ran the connector out between the hood and fender and mounted the other end to my battery terminals. Lazy? Yes.

I installed new plugs and coil packs.
All in, I spent $235 and about 2 hours.
Drives MUCH better.

I know it's on me to stay on top of these types of issues, but we haven't put that many miles on it since purchased almost 2 years ago, and THIS is what I found when I pulled the plugs:

Yes, Plug #1 is NGK and the other 5 are Champion; WHO does that?!

This is a closer view of #5, the one that threw the code:

I'm shocked that it even ran with these plugs in it.

The ONLY issue now is to replace the connector plug on #3; I damaged the lock taking it apart, now it doesn't lock onto the coil pack.

Are these connectors available individually, or do I need to replace this portion of the harness?
I don't have the mindset to look into it tonight... 😬

Someone who had a misfire code on #1, and either explicitly fixed that problem only, or took it somewhere that did only what was necessary to relieve that code.

Painful to see that...

Glad you found a logical source for the driveability issue, though!

A thin ziptie run between the wires on the plug and around the coil will keep it in place while you research. NTATWWT Heck, I might just leave it like that.

I would verify, but that's what came up when I looked at the Mopar Connection Kit site. YMMV, don't blame me, yada, yada, yada

Well, the #5 misfire is gone, but more codes came up and now it won’t start… just cranks and cranks and never fires.

I’m stuck in a local parking lot and hoping for it to be stolen…

Finally got it to start, but I had to drive it home in limp mode.
ECU reset cleared the codes enough to start it and it not immediately jump into panic/lightning bolt mode again, but I don’t trust it to go around the block.

You might need to do the throttle pedal reset now.

Finally got time today and installed a 12v outlet in the rear. Also working on building a temporary raised platform in the back to do some overlanding. It's nothing special. Behind the rear seats is the framework. It's screwed into the OEM anchor points. I then used a 2x6 cut to 49" and screwed in eye bolts on either end. I used tie-downs from my grab handles to support the 2x6 to make level with the rear. I went with this idea so i can still use the rear seats. All i have to do is remove the wood over the seats and place them in the rear. The 2x6 tucks away right behind the seats in the rear. The air mattress fits perfectly on the platform. Underneath the platform, i will have 18 quart totes with my supplies. Black carpet is on order to cover all the wood. Also, once funds allow, I want to look into a RTT.
