What did you do to your JK today?

Got my OR Fab front bumper "delivered" yesterday. Here's how that works when the bumper is somewhere between 85-95 lbs, it's in a cardboard box and it's raining:
* FedEx driver backs into driveway just enough that he is facing slightly up-grade
* Slides the 85-95lb, nearly 7' long cardboard box as close to the back door of the Fed Ex truck as he can
* Climbs into the driver seat and punches the gas pedal
* 85-95lb, nearly 7' long cardboard box slides out the door and drops the 2' or so onto my driveway.
* It's raining all day, so by the time I get home, the box is soggy

Glad I paid that $25 "handling fee" Extreme Terrain charged on top of the shipping costs. Without that I'm sure my bumper would have just been launched from an airplane hoping it would land somewhere close to the house.

Regardless, it was wrapped with bubble and foam well enough I don't think it took any serious dings, but will post before and after pics tomorrow when we do the install.

You should have seen my box when it was delivered, there was more tape on the box then cardboard. No protective wrap at all on the bumper, but mine was a Open Box Special so probably why.

Well I paid AEV $170 (FedEx) for shipping of my lift kit. They show up and just place it (along with my sons skid plate he ordered) right in front of the garage, didn’t even bother going to the door. So there sat 1500-1700 worth of stuff next to the street. Fortunately UPS stopped by about 15 minutes later and I was able to get them on the Ring camaera and she was kind enough to pit it in the garage (can open remotely). I couldn’t believe they just put it there, no attempt to hid it.

Took about an hours and a half to install. None too difficult, except for the weight. The fog light mounting holes are not ideal to work with- would have been nice of they welded the nuts to the back side of the mounting bracket. Very difficult to get you fingers between the bumper and the fog light bracket.

The plastic shroud on top between the factory bumper and the grille is gone- new bumper tucks right up to the grille. As well as the plastic "skid plate" under the factory bumper is gone too.

And I removed the "Jeep" lettering off the front grille. There's not a single decal or tag on the vehicle, save for the "Trail Rated" badge.

But, it's done:

Not today, but Friday evening and yesterday installed AEV 2.5” lift. Before after picture below. Overall it went well, I’d say the most difficult was installing the front right shock, that was terrible. Second getting the driveshaft disconnected, I thought one bolt was going to snap they were so tight, they had a bunch of blue locktite. Getting the front trackbar aligned was a little difficult too. I picked up 3” in rear and 3.5” in the front. I’m sure it will level out over time.

One question I have if anyone knows. The instructions were clear to mark the driveshaft and mounting flange to reinstall it so not to damage anything after reconnecting. Yes I did that, but I am not sure why it would matter if the shaft was rotated a bolt or two off from taking it off. The shaft just turns the differential gears, nothing interlocked for gear alignment. Any thought?

PS - Not sure where to place this, but when I did the install on my lift I used the Permatex Bolt marker stuff. I found it was helpful as once torqued I marked them which served as a great double check and knew which ones were torqued.

Are those 35s?

I have to behave and lay low for a little while. I'm getting ready to retire (for the 3rd time) and in the last month or so I bought the seat covers, Pedal Commander and front bumper...
Thankfully, my wife and I have always kept our separate bank accounts, because if she really knew how much coinage I dropped into my JK, she'd probably have something to say besides the usual, "Accessorizing, again?"

And we're childless, so it's not like we're going to leave all our stuff and money to anyone...
