Howdy. If anyone has any insight as to what I may be dealing with, that would be a life (and wallet) saver.

My 2014 Sport had the oil cooler pump fail in December. Replaced the entire cooling system due to oil getting in the radiator. So oil pump, radiator, tubes, thermostat, etc. replaced. Two months thereafter, starts overheating again. Went back to the shop and they warrantied it out. Then, again two months later—overheating, replaced yet another thermostat. Now, 6 months after a complete coolant system overhaul, I am in need of a fourth thermostat.

This most recent failure had some weird issues—high oil pressure, bogging down when I would have to accelerate quickly, running a little rough.

What could be causing these repeated failures?? Has anyone run into this issue before? Is my rig just cursed now?

I did replace head gaskets, trans hasn’t read as hotter than normal during the current mishap. Could it be the tans cooler even if it’s running at a normal temp?
Sure. Pressure in your cooling system is 16-18PSI. In your transmission lines, it's up to 200PSI. So if there is a leak, it'll be FROM the transmission INTO the coolant. So there's no real reason your transmission would get hot, especially with a small leak.

It's also entirely possible that you need to call an exorcist, or burn some sage, or something.

Ever figure out your issue here? Having a new thermostat put in today, 4th one over the past two years.

Have you checked for any underlying issues with the engine or cooling system? Sometimes, a larger issue can cause repeated thermostat failures, like irregular temperature readings or contamination in the coolant system.

Also, double-check the installation process of the thermostat. If it’s not seated properly or if there’s debris preventing it from functioning, that could lead to premature failures too. Since you mentioned experiencing symptoms like high oil pressure and rough running, it might also be worth having the entire system inspected for leaks or blockages that could be adding stress to the thermostat.

Good luck with the new one! Keep us posted on how it goes!

Do both of you have a automatic transmission, there's a issue with the automatic transmissions torque converter staying locked in and causing the engine to overheat.

Oh shyt, another thing to 'worry' about possibly haunting me. I hope someone chimes back with some positive results and repair solutions.

I am little late here. The wife’s JKU has been through a few t-stats, none of them OEM though. I have two at home in storage now and looks like I need to replace the t-stat. The others were under warranty and had work done at a local mechanic shop we use. This one I’ll be doing myself.

I know about the torque converter issue, but I assume if the jeep shifts normal the torque converter is working correctly. But that is a BIG assumption on my part as I don’t know what the systems are of a bad torque converter. And I haven’t researched it very much.

From what I understood the torque converts not bad just a sensor that unlocks it, It stays locked in to long or something.

Interesting, part of the issue is I am not sure what the exact symptoms are for a bad torque converter. It seems to drive fine minus the engine temps, again. Usually on a grade, in Tahoe this week and temp hit 245 coming up from Carson City. Keep in mind it is a constant grade from 4800 to 7400 in elevation without a break. It seems to come down fairly quickly but still seems high.

Mostly around town it will average between 212 and 230. Done the front end elevated etc. but all the t-stats have been aftermarket. It has a 120K or something on it so will probably flush, put in all new coolant and t-stat and see what happens. The shop was supposed to flush it but think I’ll do it myself then I know for a fact it has been done.

I've never heard if a scanner will show if there's a problem with the LU.
