Just to be safe put a tab over the pin and check the internal case bolts to be sure they are still tight.
 
If it has good oil pressure and doesn't smoke then it doesn't need a rebuild. I've heard of those engines being torn down with 500,000 miles on them and the cylinder walls still have the cross hatching on them. There alot of them with over a million miles on them before needing a rebuild, just don't over heat it.

I'd adjust the valves and at least replace the rear main seal. Check the tappet cover gasket and if the rubber feels hard i'd replace it also. It can be done without pulling the IP, i've done it 3 times already on engines. This stuff is easier to do with the engine out, When you have it set at TDC for doing the valves put a paint mark or other permanent mark on the crank pulley and timing cover for future reference. It's a PIA trying to lock it in TDC with the engine in, with the mark just line up the mark and your good to go.
 
The frame is at the sandblasters.

It fit in the back of my 8ft. bed quite well. In case anyone is wondering. I have done everything by myself including loading the frame in to the truck. Slow and steady as they say. I forgot to take pics loading it up and in the bed, so I will take a few when I bring it back.

Built a welding table out of 1/4" plate and square 2x2 1/8"

Picked up a Badlands Apex 12k winch from "HF" $450

Picked up a Klutch welding cart from "Northern tool" $90

Wow, this is turning out to be one hell of a build! Looks like by the time this is over you're going to have a lot of time and money into it. A labor of love though, right? ;)

Shopped online, who am I kidding thats the way we buy all our Jeep goodies for the most part.

Arrived yesterday.

A Swag Offroad hydraulic ram adapter for my JD2 32 tubing bender and a much less expensive tubing notcher.

Let me say this tubing notcher is every bit of what I hoped for and is practically identical to the JD2 model. I can almost see the roll cage looking good in my mind. Lol

I'd like to see a picture of the bender/notcher when it's all setup. That's always been something I wanted to get but didn't think it would get used enough to make it worth while.

Ha, I see you have to do things the creative way when there is no one else around to help like I have to. Lucky I have a small tractor with a loader and a rear lift attachment that's made things easy most of the time.

Seems like it has been that way my while life. It is good to be able to help ourselves in so many ways. It keeps my mind younger, I think...

Most people the older you get the smarter you work. If you can troubleshoot your way out it's good.
