Are the gear indicators on the console supposed to be illuminated?

Can't recall if they ever lit up or not, but I was recently asked by my brother-in-law if the indicators next to the shifter are supposed to be back lit.
I couldn't find a fuse that says gear shift indicators, so if they are back lit, they are part of a larger circuit.
Can anyone point me in the right direction if they are?

Yes they are. The wife’s flicker on and off some days. I think it is fairly easy to replace the bulb, not having done it cant say for sure.

Should my 2017 JKU have lighting in the center console?

I have a 2017 Unlimited Sport. Never paid much attention to this since it was new. But wife wife mentioned that the console is not lit up like the rest of the instruments, etc...at night. I ask a service rep here at the Jeep dealer about this, he said he was not sure. And that maybe it depended...

My Wifes gears are constantly flickering, if only a bulb change could correct a 30plus situation,. Just saying.

I found the way to change that bulb on google...It's a small bulb a takes a little doing but can be done. The toughest part is getting the knob off the shifter.

I just replaced my bulb a few weeks ago. I can't remember the bulb number but it's tiny. There's a few utube videos out there that show you how to pull the 4wd gear know off and then the console to get to it. Only took me a few minutes.

Following the tips provided here, I have found and ordered what I believe to be the LED version of this lamp style in blue.
I found it here listed as a Type 74 option.
I wanted the increased 360° viewing angle to make the indicators as bright and even as possible.
For $1.95 it's worth a try.
