Oil underneath (behind engine) & wiring question

have been painting my house, but finally got back to doing a little something with the Jeep. It was too hot to paint on Saturday (100* in New Hampshire is damn hot for us folks up here), so I pulled the wife's jeep into the garage and changed the oil for the first time since owning it. pretty...

    Burning smell while driving

oil level is fine. I drove it and did not smell anything. I did order a PCV valve and some head gaskets, though. When I next get a chance I will do these along with the plugs and wires. - and put a new heat shield on the drivers side exhaust manifold. jim

    Burning smell while driving

2008 JK 2 door - 3.8L - 155K wife reports 2X now that she smells "a rubber burning smell" when she is driving. first time I opened up hood and did not really smell anything, though my nose is not as good as hers, and the jeep had not been overheating or anything. Brakes seem fine, not pulling...

What would be a reasonable maintenance schedule for my JK?

I got a 2008 with an unknown maintenance history and 150K - except that it came with new brakes and a new muffler. I have changed the serpentine belt, the coolant, put on new rear shocks, and I have the new spark plugs and wires (not looking forward to that) and also new gear oil to put in the...

Wife isn't happy with LED light install

I have the fog lights to go with them as well if you want those. I'll just get brighter bulbs for the OEM ones I guess. anyone got a suggestion there?

Wife isn't happy with LED light install

yes, I proved they work and they literally have been in the car for about 3 weeks - and I still have the box they came in. When I get a new solution I would be happy to pass them along at a small loss. I'll see about getting the replacements ordered and let you know.

Wife isn't happy with LED light install

yes, thanks - I looked into those I believe when I was contemplating the upgrade originally, but ended up going LED as the price was actually a bit lower. But, now I am spending the money twice...thank you for the recommendations. I spent much more than $25 trying to assemble my own harness!

Wife isn't happy with LED light install

i recently installed Sunpie LED halos - they work awesome, nothing wrong with them...except that my wife thinks they look too modern and wants the "classic" headlight look back. OK - back to the drawing board. I am now going to have to go back to making a new lighting harness powered from the...

Can I re-install the back seats myself?

actually, you don't even need any tools. the rear seat is the "fold and tumble" seat that is designed to be easily removed and replaced - it has a spring loaded handle that unlocks the front mounting feet to remove it. the rear mounting feet unlock if you fold the seat back down. This is...

Buying a JK, need some help (Jeep newbie)

I am also thinking about getting LED turn signals and LED rear lights as well - but there is not a real reason to do that - just 'cause I think they would be cool, and I would have to do it and hope my wife did not notice. She is tired of me taking apart and "breaking" her jeep without...

    Hesitation with acceleration

The acceleration is not thrilling even at the best of times, and the drive-by-wire throttle response is downright sluggish. If you really mash down on it, it will accelerate more quickly, but it's not responsive to the gas pedal in the same way that other cars you may be more used to probably...

Issue with soft top windows not sealing

MacGuyver is correct, however, when I installed my new BesTop soft top there was NO way the window fronts were going to rotate into the jamb once you fastened the zipper. It was like the zipper location on the top was sewn a bit too far back and there just was not enough material to stretch the...

Heated seats in older JK possible?

i just put watercarbon seat heaters in my wife's jeep - covered them with new Iggee seat covers. very easy to do. I got a power tap from quadratec - but that was a waste, the wiring is pretty easy to manage without it.

Buying a JK, need some help (Jeep newbie)

went for my first night time drive with the new headlights and no one flashed me, so I guess I adjusted them OK. they work very well - as did the LED fogs. with the fogs and low beams on, you can see great with a good cut-off, and the high beams are very bright. 10/10 would recommend.
