Help me understand: pinion angle vs castor

I would suggest Adjustable Upper control arms. And possible a match vendor set designed for 4" of lift and able to reset the geometry to correct angles. Rolling the Caster back to proper numbers should also bring your Camber back into proper ranges. Use a an angle finder to get the Caster close...

Out of ideas and replaced most components.....

This is my vote as well. If all wear components are truly new then it has to be the alignment. Darting is a more common characteristic of caster or worn joints/bushings. Wandering is tires generally. How much slop is in the steering wheel as well? Maybe an issue with a worn/loose steering box...

What did you do to your JK today?

New bushings and adjusters on the track bar. Had close to 1/8” of play in the old bushings following the Dusy trip. Surprised it didn’t go full death wobble on me. Next up I have to repair some wallowed out control arm holes, that’s for the weekend 🙃

    Drive shaft play

That might be just a bit too much play in the rear end. Talking with my gear installer after the fact he mentioned maybe 1-2 degrees of play in the rear. With that amount of play you very well could have the pinion getting separation from the ring. Check for any play in the pinion, in/out of the...

Off Road Mods For A Daily Driver

I too daily my Jeep. Not a long commute mind you but I take it everywhere. I believe you can make any jeep have "decent" road manners to be a daily commuter. With a known good suspension lift and the 34"s I would see no issue. Re-gearing might help get some of the power-band back with the larger...

    Dusy Ershim 8/2022

Just got done with one awesome trail, the Dusy. We had planned for 5 days on trail but actually completed it in 4 (3 wheeling days). Thursday we ran from Courtright Reservoir to Thompson Lake. I will say Thompson hill lived up to the hype. All three rigs made it up with good spotting and one...

What did you do to your JK today?

Actually removing the old bushings and pressing in the new is not to difficult. Drill the rubber, score the sleeve with a saw and chisel out the sleeve. Not a delicate process. I used a Harbor Freight ball joint press to push in the new bushings, no issue but getting the stack up right and...

What did you do to your JK today?

Rear Lower Control Arm Bushings. Fronts were just as bad but got those done a bit ago. Finally had the parts to finish the job. I do believe that this was part of my steering issues, even being in the rear. Next up, ball joint’s.

What did you do to your JK today?

Dual purpose. The 5lb propane stayed put on our first weekend outing. No rattles and still solid. This extra 2.5 gal of gas will come in handy on the Dusy.

How much money do you have into your Jeep?

Purchased as a Christmas gift in 2020 08' JKUR w/62000 miles, $28k Bought it built, only needed some maintenance and upkeep. It sat in a warehouse for 4yrs without moving too much. Had to replace all fluids, belts, tires, etc. Took about another $4500 to get her reliable. $32,500 into a 14yr...

    Short arm vs Long arm

I have fixed short arms on my 4" lift from Synergy. It corrects the caster and oliviates once source of steering issues. No complaints on or off road. Saves you a good bit of $. Scott

What did you do to your JK today?

Gave up looking for something that fit my need without spending $$$. Need to get a quick strap for the 5lb propane tank. And put in a stud for some Roto-PAC style tanks.

California Dispersed Camping near Lassen NP

Anyone know of specific "good" spots near Lassen NP or areas to avoid since the fire? Wanted to head that way for a camping trip with the family but completely new to me area. We'll be doing mostly touristy things in the park, just want to stay close to the park. Most spots in the park are...

Can anyone help me with this problem

Common for my automatic as well. I just make my girls wiggle the Jeep around saying that's the only way to get the shift cable sensor to work. Now they all scream "Wiggle-Wiggle" every time the jeep doesn't start on the first try. Not recommended. Just gently tug/push on the transmission...

Need a good Trail Map app

Run GAIA as well. Found it to be more accurate and user friendly than OnX. The few instances my brothers (OnX) and I tried mapping hunting trails or offroad trails head-to-head, GAIA won out. The user track function on GAIA is very nice (paid subscription). Seeing waypoints from other users that...

    12v Fridge - Camping Consolidation

Well. Jumped in on this. Newair 48qt 12v cooler Walmart had them marked down to $400. Not sure how I’m going to wire it in yet. Being an 08’ JK I don’t have any existing wiring in the cargo area and everything is carpeted. Maybe to the sPOD or fused directly to the battery, I’ll cross that...

    12v Fridge - Camping Consolidation

Okay working on consolidation for our camping trips. Last trip was 3days in the sierra’s and everything seemed to go alright. One thing we are leaning towards is a 12v fridge. Wanted to see what others are running? I really don’t feel like spending $1k on an ARB or Dometic. I know it’s always...

HELP ! front driveshaft issues and questions

The one you have (bent) is aftermarket Dana Spicer performance front shaft. You can find several similar on websites like 4Wheel Parts, Quadratech, Northridge4x4 or Reels Drivline. I do not believe the front shaft you show in the second picture will fit but others may know better. The second...

What did you do to your JK today?

Replaced the rear axle shafts. Only reason it was needed? Bent flange! I will say I am really questioning the “seal replacement” I had done at a local shop. Looks like they might have just pulled the shafts, slapped a bunch of RTV on it and called it a day. Very suspicious of a reputable shop...

    Exhaust Manifolds

I've had a replacement exhaust manifold sitting on my bench for a year. Simply do to the fear of snapping off those horrible factory bolts. I still to this day can't believe manufactures don't use plated hardware in the engine block. Good luck.
