Personally, I try to rotate all 5 of mine whenever I get an oil change (every 3k-3.5k miles). Might be a little overkill at times, but rotating them has never hurt me, and keeping all 5 in rotation makes me feel better about using the spare should I ever need it.

Definitely no drips, and a light underneath just showed slightly more than average road grime. I got a heavy degreaser and cleaned around the oil pan about a week ago and I haven't noticed any new signs of leaking since then.

Frameless soft tops aren't an awful option, I had one on my old TJ. I got a new frameless top for a little over $300, but I'd recommend spending a little more to get a nicer one. It's just personal preference too, the frameless tops are also called slant back tops if you want to look them up.
