Recommended tire pressure for 35 tires?

I just bought a 2015 Wrangler Sport - 2 door, a few months ago.

I have Mickey Thompson Baja STZ 315/70R17 tires with 38psi and it was a rough ride. Tonight I lowered all 4 tires to 34psi but after reading all the posts it seems like this is still way to high. I haven’t done a chaulk test yet but will try it this weekend.

Currently I do all city driving but next month I’m taking a 195 mile highway trip to the Florida Keys. Do I adjust the psi for city and highway?
I'd would adjust for the amount of extra weight, if any, loaded in the Jeep. I'm running 35 psi in my 37's. If I have the back packed for a trip I'll bump them up to 38-40 depending on how much 💩 my wife "needs" to bring.

Thanks for the reply … today’s ride into work was much smoother at 35psi. I hear ya about the extra 💩!!

Appreciate the wisdom displayed here. I upgraded from mismatched junk 33s to decent 35s yesterday and knew the factory pressure wouldn't fly. It'll burn up the center of the tire and leave untouched rubber on the sides. Thanks to y'all, I've ordered a BT OBD adapter and downloaded JScan to make adjustments. Tires were all over the chart from the tire installers, so I dialed them back to 32 for now. The ride was ok before, but tires be expensive and need to keep them maintained properly.

36 psi? Wow, that's way too much.

You should be running around 26-28 psi at most. With 36 psi it's going to ride terrible. I have run 26 psi in all of my 35" tires for years and years now. Done plenty of chalk tests too, and 26 psi is the sweet spot.

36 psi is great if you like jarring rides ;)
Chris, I bought a used 2015 JKU- lifted with 35" tires in December. I'm a first time Jeep owner. It sounds like I have the psi, set pretty high on my tires. It is my daily driver and I take it out in the Arizona desert a few times a month. I don't air down. The numbers on the dash say anywhere from 36-38 in the tires, it usually depends on the weather.

Yep, that's way more PSI than you need!

I just bought my first jeep. It’s a 2 door with 35’s and a 3” lift. Dealership gave it to me with 40lbs and it’s got A LOT of bump steer issues. Will lowering the psi to 26 help this?

Do the chalk test that will get you about where you should be.

Lowering the pressure will surely help. As BLACKJKU posted. use the chalk test to determine your Jeep's pressure.

Reading this seems crazy lol I run 50 psi and love it!

50? Your kidding I hope
Probably ballooning your tire and the ride must be brutal harsh on rough city streets let alone on the trails .
Vast majority run somewhere 28-32 psi . Provides even wear and comfortable ride .
It’s your Jeep , your choice but unless your pulling 40’ 10 000 pound trailer your pressure is to high

My 2016 wrangler g
26 psi, but no, no issues whatsoever.

Believe me when I say switching to 26 psi will be lift changing. It sounds too low, but I've found it to be the literal sweet spot.
oes nuts at 26 psi with all the sensors what can I do about that, cause I tried it and it got on my nerves

Is OBD JScan the recommended app?

This thread has been super helpful. I recently traded my TJ for a JK with a lift and 35's. Within a week, the tire pressure light came on. Now I'm learning a new thing... dropping to 26psi. My previous ride was plagued with suspension issues that resulted in tire-cupping, so I want to be sure to protect this new set of tires and get as much life out of them as possible... cause they're Boss!!

Can anyone recommend a decent tire pressure gauge. I have 2 gauges that are about 7 psi different. Neither are close to what the tpms says.
