Hello,

I recently ordered a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Willys back in October 2021 at a local jeep dealership and received on November 23 my VIN. Today, I still have no update on my jeep build. I have emailed the dealership plenty of times and they keep saying no update yet- still in D status firm schedule. Is this normal? Think Covid delays? TIA

Everyone trying to buy a new vehicle is having to wait a long time because of the computer chip shortage.

I was advised there are no chip shortages for jeep. Interesting they probably lied to get me to build/buy! If that were the case you’d figure the dealership would tell me. Doesn’t jeep communicate with them?

They can't sell vehicles if they would tell everyone there could be a long wait. I'm on A Dodge Diesel Forum and the Dodge trucks are the same problem with long delays on new trucks. Dodge and Jeep's are all Chrysler made.

Everything is taking a lot longer and is more expensive. Look at the price of used vehicles now. Or anything else, for that matter.

You've got 4 year old jeeps selling for the price of brand new ones.

If FL hadn't opened up it's ports for shipping we'd be even more screwed.

I went to the Dodge dealer in October. I wanted to order a single cab, eight foot bed, with 4 wheel drive and a hemi.
On other words, a stripped down pick up.
They would not take the order! instead of the pick up I wanted, they wanted to sell me a quad cab with a 6.5 foot bed.
I guess they have so many buyers for the higher option vehicles, they can pick what you buy.
I will wait to buy one when things go back to normal.

I was camping in NW PA last fall and chatting with a fellow camper from Kentucky. He worked for Ford and explained they are building trucks and cars. At the end of the line they plug in a chip, drive the vehicle off the line into the storage lot, pull the chip and plug it into the next vehicle coming off the line. Then the vehicle just sits in the lot until they can get a chip for it. Now that was several month back so maybe thing are better. So maybe your jeep is sitting on a storage lot at the factory

I ordered my 2022 Rubicon Jeep Wrangler 1st week in Nov 2021. I contacted the jeep dealership and they haven't start building my jeep yet. They said it could be up to 6 months from the order date to receive my jeep. I guess there behind..🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I did a little 'used car' searching last night and noted that sticker price for Wranglers in the 12 to 17 range are selling USED for 3 to 4k OVER sticker price when new. Miles are all generally low, under 70k. But still, OVER OG STICKER? Its wild. In contrast, the 2018/19's are selling for apprx 3k to 4k less than sticker. So averaging, for both the JK and JL's, 34 to 42k used sale price.

Wild times but Ive still got my heart set on a Tacoma.

Seems to be the case here in CA. Been that way for a while.

@Anybodyhome I wouldn't be against a diesel JLU. But the price of entry for something that isn't yet proven for longevity has me thinking, no. Still, anything used at the moment is way up there, so there's that.

Would actually love a clean Cherokee w an I4.

From what I heard the diesel engine that's used in the Jeeps is the same one used for the 1500 series Dodges for a few years now. The first couple years there was a issue with them but I think by now they have that worked out.

The factory-ordered limitations to owning a diesel 4-door: 3.73 gears only, auto trans only, limited tire and wheel options plus a bunch of other options I couldn't care less about that only go to justify the $62k price tag.

Although I did find this one in Texas for $55,900

Ouch, $56k! Nice JLU but that's a butt clencher- lol Nevermind looking at Diesel Jeeps. 😂

I'm still adjusting to the idea of paying 36k for anything used these days. That's def because Ive never bought a new car and likely never will. I can't do it knowing that vehicle loses value the moment I drive it off the lot.

I completely get ya. As I write this, I'm trying to remember the last time I bought a new vehicle. I think it was 1988.
Matter of fact it was this VW Fox wagon, same color and everything... came in at less than $8500 fully loaded.

If you think you’re disappointed now wait until you get your Covid quality jeep! I have a wrangler unlimited with a sky one touch that leaks like a sieve and now it started leaking antifreeze and it only has 3300 miles on it.

Yes I am getting the same thing, now there order system was hacked and cannot pull up details on shipments. Mine supposedly was on a train for a bit now. THE CSX TDSI train car depot is only 2.5 hours from the dealer.
