Patch or trash?

As you see the large piece of metal missed the lug but clearly flattened the tire. Do you think a patch will hold or just eat it and new tire?
A patch should work. Definitely don't waste your time on a plug. The hole is too big for that. Do tire places still vulcanize tires? I've been out of the loop for tire repair lol.
I have tire plugs that have a patch on the end so tire shops should have them also. They look like this and they would be the best to repair it.

Shop repaired a nearly new tire on my Charger with a very similar hole... they used a plug w/a patch on it like the one pictured.
It never gave me any issues, including several long road trips.

I was able to get the tire patched. So far it’s held. I was worried that it would be too large.
Here is a pic of the chunk of metal that was pulled out. It just happened to hit at the base, if it hit the knob it never would have punctured.
