I thought it would maybe benefit some new Members and also existing Members to know how much it costs to have a Jeep JK.

So I guess since I started this i'll go first.

Bought it in 9-2019 for $19,000.00 2008 JKU manual trans with 75,500 miles.

Put a additional $3,000 or so in repairs, tires and wheels, and those costly addictive add on's.

So that puts me at $22,000.

Mine:

Purchased 2 years ago, 2007 JKU Sport, manual w/ 118,000 miles. Clean tile/1- owner.

Jeep: $11,500
Clutch: $900 installed
Immediate maintenance/fluid changes (all): $100
Repair: Front crank shaft seal; $10
Maintenance: plugs, Mopar pcv, Mopar radiator cap $30 (got the factory champion plugs dirt cheap from friend who sold jeep).

Fun: Wheels/tires (takeoff 33s, Rubicon Recon wheels), used soft top, Pedal Commander, re-gear to 4.56 (fr: 3.21), newer year/redesigned gear shifter, inner shift boot, Smittybuilt neoprene seat covers, leather steering wheel cover, factory Sahara rear bumper paint matched; about $3100.

I'm in my Jeep about $15k, incl moderate maintenance. Not too bad.

Disclaimer: most accessories I have bought dirt cheap from classifieds where people have sold their Jeeps. AND, the parts I replace, I have sold most of them for the same price or a little more than I bought the other part for.

Best things I've purchased: Re-gear to 4.56 gears (running 33" tires) and the Pedal Commander.

Wants:

1) 35" tires because I'm revving about 3100 rpm at 75mph (speed limit here is 80mph).

2) Exhaust system (with the regear and Pedal Commander, it seems as the Jeep needs to breathe better. Id rather not get a cold air intake, due to going on dirt quite a bit, but I know it would help)

Purchased in 2020
2017 rubicon recon
$42,000
11,800 miles
It had the winch, AEV lift, AEV spare tire carrier, AEV spare fuel cell, back up camera, dirty dog sun screen, rock slide engineering power steps, spod system, lights & misc other stuff.

$1,500 I installed Tow bar base plates and demco Air Force one braking system
$300 pet cargo liner for the little girl
$350 Hotheads Headliner
$2,000 GOODYEAR WRANGLER ULTRATERRAIN AT Tires 35x12.5x17

Purchased as a Christmas gift in 2020
08' JKUR w/62000 miles, $28k

Bought it built, only needed some maintenance and upkeep. It sat in a warehouse for 4yrs without moving too much.
Had to replace all fluids, belts, tires, etc. Took about another $4500 to get her reliable.

$32,500 into a 14yr old car. Might be the definition of insanity.

If you’re talking about the Jeep in your profile pic, you’re not “insane”. I diagnose you with a clean bill of mental health 😝

Bought a 2016 JKUR two years ago for about $34k with 32000 miles. In those two years and 30k miles I have had to do about $7000 in repairs. Did them all myself except replacing the heads. Other maintenance has been replace; all 4 rotors, pads and cali pers due to ceasing. Oil pump, battery, water pump, all 4 abs sensor lines, gas cap, oil cooler, spark plugs, pcv and odds and ends like fluids.

As for things like lift, stereo, winch, bumpers, mounts, and such im at around $9500.

Well the saying is "Just Empty Every Pocket"

mods probably around 30-40K, that's with labor charges (wish I was mechanically inclined) Edelbrock supercharged because why not lol
Bought the jeep in 2016 with 5k mile on it for 45K
It became an addiction and I don't have any regrets, something about driving around topless/ doors off in the summer time.

At first it was the mods, ACT racing clutch, Mario Andretti endorsed Magnaflow duel exhaust. 12 years later in these brutal winters it is all maintenance baby. We did not have kids, just dogs, so I think I am ahead of the game. Money Wise. All Good.

glad Im not the only one......and Ive only had mine a few months!

Approx 3k since owning mine. 2013 with about 57k when I purchased it. Acquired it from a long time friend. Has had some hiccups and I intent on selling it, but it was fun. Not nearly as much fun as my TJ. Though, I have learned a lot about the JK's since owning. New 35" tires and wheels and removed a lot (all) of the import junk he had on it.

Love the look and the height of it, but its so not practical and I already have a TJ that I don't intend on selling, probably ever.
