So, I was changing the oil on my jeep today and noticed that this hose has been chewed on by a rat or other animal. I traced it back as far as I could go and couldn't find out what it's attached to. I was wondering if anyone here has any ideas?

I cut the hose back and reinstalled the cap on the top so, it technically still works, but I'd still like to know what it's used for.

So, of that's the case would it be possible that it could have caused some damage to my transmission if it's been left cut open for awhile?

I'm not too savvy when it comes to automechanical stuff. I can do a little bit, but I really don't know about this one at all.

It's the breather for the auto trans. Just make sure the hose end isn't plugged, it's supposed to have a jiggle cap on it.

I gotcha! Yeah, I made sure the jiggle cap was still moving like it should and just reattached it to the slightly shortened hose. I sure appreciate the quick replies!
