Ok, time for an update. I took the jeep to a specialist (Jeep). I had a leaking rear main seal. They pulled the transmission, transfer case, etc. found out that the torque converter seal had been replaced with the wrong part. So a leak there as well. Replaced the seals. No more leaking there. Big wallet hit. Asked about o2 sensors. Turns out that due to my mistake I had the wrong o2 sensors installed. I put in Bosch sensors. Wrong choice. The 3.6 is sensitive to the brand of sensor. I need to replace with Ngk 361 and 362 sensors. I have ordered them and will change when they arrive. It has something to do with the voltage!
Moral of the story is . Don’t necessarily believe what a mechanic that doesn’t work on jeeps tells you. Take it to a specialist. A good one who has jeeps outside that they are working on. Not the one who is recommended on yelp, google, etc. found these guys by word of mouth.
I will update when I get the new sensors installed. Oh, by the way. The wife is happy now without the smell of burning oil from the leaking seals. That’s another story I’ll post later. Thanks all for their suggestions and advice. I appreciate it.
