2012 JK dies at stop, then stays in neutral upon restarting

So my jk periodically will die at stop. I put in park and restart. starts right up. i put it back in drive and it seems to just stay in neutral. I then put back in park. Shut it off and restart and everything is normal. goes in to drive no problem. only seems to do it on hot days and when A/C is on. I hook up obd scanner no stored codes at all. not sure where to start.
 
Hey it's really late to respond probably but if someone else finds this thread with the same problem maybe this will help...
I had the same problem on my old Cadillac, It ended up being a bad crank position sensor. After a little bit of research it doesn't seem to bad to fix on wranglers- here's a few videos that hopefully help:

Wow I'm having this exact same issue on my 2013 JK (only started after an engine swap). I know this is years later, but maybe someone can point me in the right direction here. No one can seem to figure out the issue.

Are any codes popping?
 
Try tossing a crank sensor in it. I don’t know for certain that is your problem but the part isn’t too expensive and at least you can eliminate that. I don’t like throwing parts at a vehicle but with cheaper parts, it can solve your problem. And, if it doesn’t, toss the old sensor in your tool bag. Now you have a spare when it eventually does fail.

I will have the shop do that today. They are also going to use indentafix now as they are 8 hours into this diag and cant figure anything out.

My issue was the CPS. Never threw a code but would randomly die at stops when hot. Changed the Crankshaft Position Sensor, disconnected battery cables, and drained all the power in the Jeep so it would relearn the new sensor and never had another issue with it.

Well yall were right. The shop I took it to said it tested fine and wouldnt replace it (cps). Paid the $1187 bill and took it home replaced the sensor in 5 minutes. Jeep runs fine now. No more stalling. Unbelievable, a dealership another shop, 6 months of headaches and alot of $ no one could figure it out. People online helped fix it. Thank you!!!!
