    Quick check if head gasket is failed, look at your oil dipstick and see if your oil has turned into a milkshake looking liquid. I agree with those guys above. Sounds like a thermostat issue. There is an airbleed valve on it that allows you to burb it (but do when it's cold though!!).

    OK, been a few days since I've replaced the thermostat. Wanted to let everyone know that my fuel mileage just increased by about 20% improvement! Holy crap, I wish I would've done this sooner. I had resigned myself to poor gas mileage.

    Nice ride! I did a bunch of troubleshooting. I never did get a code reported on the OBDII port. First, I replaced the engine coolant sensor. That didn't have any impact on the gauge reading high temps when downshifting up a hill. So then, I just straight up replaced the thermostat. Cost me...
