What is this engine compartment thingy?

Oh interesting. I have an issue with my EVAP system where I get the Check Gas Cap warning, but replacing the gas cap didn’t fix it. So small leak somewhere. Good to know this is part of it.

Tough Trail Day and Fender Recommendations?

I’m re-clipping all the fenders tomorrow so we’ll see if it helps. Funny you mention KO2’s. That’s another tire like MS that people either love or hate. I guess every tire has it’s proponents and detractors. A lot of people in my club run Cooper SST Pro’s but they are hard to find.

Tough Trail Day and Fender Recommendations?

Good point. In spite of my fenders being moderately abused, I can just hose them off at the car wash, load up new clips, and pop them back on. I just wish they didn’t come off so easily, especially the front ones. Maybe just trimming them is the way to go.

    Tire repair trail kit?

With my recent trail flat it got me thinking about trail tire repair. I have a plug & patch kit, but what about valve stem replacement and cores? Would I ever need to replace a core on the trail? What kind of valve stem replacement should I be looking at? Tia. No patch for this MT02.

Tough Trail Day and Fender Recommendations?

Nah, I take your feedback positively. I am going on very popular jeep trails that are sponsored/maintained by Jeep clubs (actually owned by the statute park system). Like Walker Valley OHV, Evan’s Creek OHV, etc. I have original plastic fenders with those plastic clips and they won’t take much...

Tough Trail Day and Fender Recommendations?

As a friend explained to me when I first got into off-roading, the point of maximum fun is the instant before it breaks. Word.

Tough Trail Day and Fender Recommendations?

Tough day on the trail today. Ripped off three of four stock fenders and got a 4” side wall gash in one of my new-to-me MS Patagonia 38” M/T’s. Was able to cable tie two of the fenders back on and threw the forth in the back as it didn’t have any clips left. I seem to completely lose, or...

    Motobilt tire carrier?

Ya my thought too. Have to keep looking for a swing type that’ll work with a 38.

    Motobilt tire carrier?

I was gonna skip having a spare when I upgraded my tires but got a decent deal on 5 MP 38’s on KMT beadlocks. So how to mount the spare? Looked for a swing gate type but can’t find one for 38’s. Motobilt has a rear gate mount but that seems like a lot of weight on the hinge. Anyone running...

Can't remove track bar bolt, grrrr...

I meant to say I need a torque wrench for reassembly, not disassembly.

Can't remove track bar bolt, grrrr...

Great thought! I bought the Jeep from a mechanic and he probably did use loctite. I ended up replacing the damper, which was easy, but not installing the relocation bracket. I’ll try heat and a breaker bar when I have a little more time. Plus I should really buy a 1/2” torque wrench :)

Can't remove track bar bolt, grrrr...

I do have a 24" 1/2" breaker bar and a 15/16 socket. But the impact is rated to 200 ft-lbs so I will have to put a big cheater on the breaker bar to beat that. I am also trying to do this with my jeep flat on the ground so I don't have a lot of room. But ya, I gotta do something different so...

Can't remove track bar bolt, grrrr...

I banged up my steering stabilizer and am trying to replace it. Since the one I banged up is a Teraflex it isn't the first time this has been replaced and no wonder as it sits below the axle tube. I bought a relocation bracket kit to move the stabilizer above the track bar but I cannot get the...
