Oil Pressure reading on a 2012-2013

Everybody knows that later models have an oil pressure readout in the EVIC. If you’re in a 2012 or 2013, you don’t have this feature, so you’re kinda screwed when it comes to seeing your actual oil pressure. Especially so if you’re chasing down a P0520, P06DD, or P06DE. I’ve been using...

    P06DD & P0520 back, with a side of P0420

No kidding. I guess I'm asking if people who get this code replace their cat or is it really an o2 sensor problem, or what? And I also violated a cardinal rule of communication, I asked multiple unrelated questions in one breath... but those who have had the P06DD & P0520 and also replaced...

    P06DD & P0520 back, with a side of P0420

I replaced the oil cooler & both sensors on Friday. Within 30 miles all the codes cleared & all sensors were ready. Then today CEL came back on & at the same time did that thing where it won't rev beyond ~3500 RPM or upshift unless I let off the gas a little. Got home, checked the codes...

    Oil filter housing search

First time mine was replaced was because I foolishly paid for an oil change and they cracked the thing by over tightening. This time it was sensor related. But in general I would imagine that heat cycling eventually kills the plastic housing. Hence the newer aluminum ones.

    Oil filter housing search

I happened to get this one for free, installed it today. Looks to be the same as the Dorman, only $84. It cleared my permanent codes & CEL finally went off. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B59J9Q5G/?tag=jkforum-20

3.6L Oil Filter / Oil Cooler Adaptor Housing Replacement

Finally got around to doing this, thanks to permanent P06DD & P0522 codes. I know Dorman makes an aluminum one, but I happened on this one in my Vine list and free is free so I went with it. Currently $84 if you have to use actual monies. Permanent codes gone after about an hour of driving...

How to install Apple CarPlay in a Jeep Wrangler JK

I installed the Pioneer AVH 4400 NEX in my 2012, which (at the time) was one of the few decks that allowed for wireless car play, so I don't need to plug my phone in to use Waze or Spotify etc. But one huge consideration was being able to use the steering wheel controls, since they all go...

Trouble with brake vacuum pump relocation and winch install

Dunno if you solved this already... I used this bracket to slightly relocate the canister. I liked it because while it didn't require cutting any hoses or wires, it did involve unbolting the sway bar brackets and included the necessary shims to put everything back in the correct geometry. I...

How-to install a heavy duty axle differential cover on your Jeep Wrangler JK

Love your detailed write-ups, @Chris. Do you have strong opinions on Lube Locker gaskets rather than RTV? I've decided I'm done with RTV, and have done 3 diffs with Lube Lockers -- gasket only, no RTV, and re-usable (allegedly).... no leaks.

How-to change the differential fluid on your Jeep Wrangler JK

Nice write up! Just to add, if you find that your drain plug or fill plug have a little seepage after you do this, a few wraps with teflon tape should fix you up. I also like to hit plugs with a wire wheel to clean out the threads, since we're relying on the threads to help seal everything up.

Need recommendations for new driveshafts for my 2015 JK

I have 3 Adam’s installed on various jeeps, highly recommend. There’s a 20% coupon out there if you know where to look. Usually the CV joint goes on the OEM shafts, but I agree that the backlash adjustment is probably why you busted it just now. That CV joint isn’t great, and it’s only a...

The axles are 5-7166x for non-rubicon, not sure about the driveshaft.

How to Replace Front Axle U-Joints on a Jeep Wrangler JK

(this is probably a strange first post on a forum, but here goes) For all future readers, I can add some additional info. The axle u-joint for a non-Rubicon is the Spicer 5-7166x. Don't bother with any other brand unless you want a lot of practice doing this job. Rock Auto & Amazon both...
