    My Late Mother-in Law's CJ

Found these pictures of my mother-in-law, who passed in 2020 and her 1985 CJ. The pictures were taken in 1987 in northern NJ. The CJ was a soft-top with soft doors. The doors were stolen twice and my wife tells me how they chained the doors to the roll bar when it was parked. It came with the...

What did you do to your JK today?

I use a good old fashioned Scrub Daddy... the big one, paired with Krud Kutter cleaning liquid.

    WTF?

This is the result of the rash of TV custom auto fabrication shows like Texas Metal.... I got a dollar says this thing couldn't fight its way our of a sandbox.

Water leak into driver's side floor board

So, the AC condensate tube only protrudes thru the firewall a couple inches, and it's horizontal. See if this works for ya:

What did you do to your JK today?

It's a pain. And what I've learned over a few phone upgrades is that Uconnect no longer alerts for a text message and ask me if I want it read to me. I dunno what happened to that feature.

    Rubicon Red Accents

I think Red Rock makes the entire kit for $45.... which includes vents, glove box handle, door trim and the steering wheel. But good on ya for doing it with a rattle can!

And, if oil pressure is not where it needs to be.... given your 10-15 psi statement.

2016 Rubicon Issue After Lifters / Rockers Replacement

And now the oil pump is not functioning properly as well. All of these are interconnected back to the front end of the engine. Timing chain, can shaft sensor codes, oil pump, broken tensioner.... I'd almost bet money everything leads back to the timing chain.

2016 Rubicon Issue After Lifters / Rockers Replacement

If that was an 8-cylinder engine, I'd think it was way out of timing and maybe losing a cylinder. Is it throwing any codes now? Have you done the stethoscope with the socket extension on each cylinder? Blaming another mechanic for doing something is fairly common, but I care more that the guy...

    J8 booster talk

20 years in the Navy, a law degree after, multiple residential construction trade inspector licenses & housing code inspector. Quick thinking on my feet- i just used it to my advantage for 55 years. I'm retired now, so I have time, lol, but thanks for the compliment.

    J8 booster talk

I've read the same as the ABS system needs to be inactive to bleed the individual calipers, and the system needs to be reactivated to purge the air: 1. Preparation: Ensure the vehicle is level and the brake fluid reservoir is topped off. Gather necessary tools, including a pressure bleeder, a...

My seemingly never ending death wobble journey

When you pot-holed it, was it on the driver's side? I'd start with the hub and work your way toward the middle. Bent or cracked driver's side steering knuckle, driver's side shaft assembly, front axle u-joint. Could be something a simple as bent wheel studs.

    Coming up on 200k

This is my plan for 150k ` My rebuild cost me almost $7k a little over a year ago and, knock on wood, everything is running very smooth. I'll not be going down that road again as those costs would exceed whatever I could get out of it. I'll be patient and find a 2-3 year-old, low mileage 392...

My seemingly never ending death wobble journey

Few years ago I began experiencing some wobble (not DW and very inconsistent), accompanied by some pull to the left. It began shortly after I hit an unseen, unpainted asphalt speed bump at about 25mph. It's a 2014 JKU with a 2.5" lift and 35s. Got it on a rack after finding it nearly impossible...

    Shock Recommendation for stock height

I have Rancho 5000 on mine and in my world they're just fine. I have a 2.5" lift w/35s and it's a DD, does some beach riding on the Outer Banks and some overlanding; no serious rock crawling. If I were to decide more serious off-road adventures are in my future, I'd certainly upgrade and spend...

The bore you need for heavy duty brakes is 1 1/16" whereas most of the masters are a 1". I did find this on partsgeek: https://www.partsgeek.com/hlpxwgp-jeep-wrangler-brake-master-cylinder.html
