    Oil change and new ticking

Throw a bottle of Lucas in the crank to see if the tick goes away. If it does, it's almost certainly something the previous owner did to try hide the issue. That said, at 70k miles I would be surprised to hear of cam issues in a 3.6L (not impossible, but doesn't follow the trend).

2008 JKU "Argenta" Build Thread (plus an Islander side project)

I got the PSC Big Bore bolted in place: I took the time to clean and paint the frame behind the steering gear. It was pretty clean to begin with, just a small touch of surface rust inside the little "window" cutout in the frame. The Big Bore is noticeably heavier than the factory box, making...

We had some more 2WD weather (my TJ Forum folks will get that reference) and I'm happy to report that the 4WD on the Islander works perfectly. As expected, the TrueTrac gave lots of nice, reliable, and consistent traction, even in 6" of fresh, powdery snow.

JKU Hemi Swap - Reference Guide & Swap Info

PSC Motorsports High Flow Pump As typical with nearly every subject on the internet, there is a lot of misinformation on what is needed for the JK with a Hemi swap, and what PSC pumps work are no exception, so lets try to clarify some of it. I ordered PSC PN: PK186-HEMI, the SC Power Steering...

2008 JKU "Argenta" Build Thread (plus an Islander side project)

I got the OEM engine mounts cut off the frame (see the process here). It's not bad and can be done in about an hour and a half... All the PSC parts came in, though they ended up coming later in the afternoon on Saturday instead of Friday. I promised the Mrs. that I'd help get the Christmas...

JKU Hemi Swap - Reference Guide & Swap Info

Frame Prep - Removing the 3.8L Engine Frame Mounts There are many companies that make new frame mounts to facilitate Hemi or LS swaps. JSS offers both weld-on style mounts and "bolt-on mounts". The former requires you to cut off your OEM 3.8L frame mounts, while the latter allows you to keep...

Boy am I glad I waited to order my PSC stuff - I placed an order through Offroad Elements (if you call, ask for Steve V.!) for the PSC stuff I need. Not only was I able to take advantage of some holiday sales, I got no tax and free shipping! The savings were almost $1000 over normal retail (+tax...

JKU Hemi Swap - Reference Guide & Swap Info

45° Oil Filter Adapter Installation The oil filter points down in stock form and will typically be smashed by the axle during up travel, necessitating the use of a 45° oil filter adapter. Mopar, Holley, and others offers a kit. I found a Mopar one for a reasonable price and ordered it while I...

JKU Hemi Swap - Reference Guide & Swap Info

Rear Sump Oil Pan Swap Since my motor is an LX-based crate engine, the front-sump pan needs to be swapped out for a rear-sump style. My crate motor came with a Mopar Rear Sump Oil Pan Kit, Part# 77072450AB. If your engine came from a truck, you'll already be set up for a rear sump and won't have...

2008 Jeep Wrangler blend door actuator help

I'm having a similar issue with my JKU (also a 2008). There is no blend door actuator on the earlier versions, it's simply a cable-operated lever/door. This is a common issue (https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/stock-jk-tech-12/no-heat-driver-side-150440/) so if you find a fix, let me know! I'm...

    Cranks-no-start after battery drain

I hate to say it, but it sounds VERY much like the same issues I had in my LJ when the ECM went out. Since the ECM controls the ASD and fuel relay function, as well as charging circuit, all fingers are pointing in that direction. @Wranglerfix may be of some assistance here...

2008 JKU "Argenta" Build Thread (plus an Islander side project)

Not sure what the Titan is, but if it’s an auxiliary/additional tank, that’s NOT what I’m looking for. I’m looking to move the tank to the rear, similar to a TJ style, to make room for a triangulated 4-link rear setup...

2008 JKU "Argenta" Build Thread (plus an Islander side project)

My OEM gas tank skid is rusted to shit and needs replaced… I’m toying with the idea of spending the $500-700 I would spend on an OEM replacement for a rear-mounted setup. This would be in anticipation of an eventual 4-link setup, which I’m leaning towards anyways. Current contenders are the...

JKU Hemi Swap - Reference Guide & Swap Info

Like an idiot klutz caveman normal dude excited to get working on a V8 swap, I broke the terribly placed vacuum nipple at the back of the intake manifold at some point last week. I looked back there and it was dangling… I decided to try and fix it with some mechanical support and plastic weld...

I've had two sets of MC flares with MC powder coating... in both cases, they developed a small rust line where the tub meets the flat steel section of the flare. Granted, these were the steel versions. If I went with the MC flares this time, they would absolutely be aluminum...

As a full time Environmental Compliance Manager, I will say that eliminating EVAP is a violation of federal standards, but will leave it at that :) At the state level, you can usually get away with a lot, though I am always reminded of when I lived in Arizona. The state was known for having...
