Shafer Trail, Moab - gotta try if you haven't

If you haven't done Shafer Trail in Moab, UT - it's a must. Did a family trip w/the little ones and this trail was just right (couple of hours w/ a stop for lunch). The YouTube videos don't do it any justice. They say you can do it in a regular SUV, but without 4lo to slow you down some...

4.56 too much for 3.8 and manual?

Thank you, sir! I guess I could go the 34/35" route later on if I'm revving too much at 80mph on those trips. I don't ever want my Jeep to lug again, so I'll stay with the 4.56. I know I'll be glad I did when I tow a tent trailer to the mountains.

4.56 too much for 3.8 and manual?

Hi all! I've searched on here and Googled what I'm looking for. Maybe no one has shared. Found a guy with my same question 10 yrs ago on a JK forum and he never posted his results. My Jeep: '07, 6speed manual, 3.8 w/ 285/70r17's (just under 33"). I just put a deposit down and waiting in...

Do you have a faded or dirty soft top? (Not an ad)

Damn! I was going thru my old posts and realized I never responded to you question!! Rude of me. I'm sorry. Hopefully, I can redeem myself - late tho. It's a little like shoe polish, but seems a little more gel-like. I actually just put my doors and top on a few weeks ago and it still looked...

    1999 TJ to a 2013 JK

Damn... Makes me want to have a TJ as an addition. That's originally what I wanted before we bought our JKU (for the toddlers). Someday... but, it'll be longer now since I just ordered much needed 4.56 gears and will have them swapped with the 3.21s (convinced my wife it was her idea 🤣)...

    New here! Need some advice

I just replaced my KM2 tires (loved them, but I do 70% miles on the road) with Falken Wildpeak AT3 (Load C) all terrains (same size as yours). I run them around 32psi ad they’re smooth. I also take them on trails in Moab and they’ve done well on moderate trails even… real well. BFG KO2s would...

    What is this?

I bet you they had an auxiliary air horn... Someone already said it in here, but when I first saw the photo, I thought the same thing. I was thinking of putting a dukes of Hazzard horn or train horn on my 72 Chevy truck and didn't pull the trigger, but when I was looking at them at the auto...

Meet Bruce & Agnes - new to the forum

That's a perfect set up for Valley of Fire (Just south of Mesquite, NV) or Toquerville Falls Trail (St. George). That light post on the hitch will be useful at those places too - it's primative camping 😜

Advice needed for a new owner

Congrats on your newly found addiction/obsession/funnest ride you'll have! I bought an '07 last year that had 118,000 mi and it ran well, now runs amazing (multiple long trips have been done in it with the fam). Aside from the clutch (wear item), I changed out ALL the fluids: differentials...

What did you do to your JK today?

The paint matched fenders look good. Did you have to sand like hell to get the texture off? Or did you just buy some matching ones from a Sahara?

What did you do to your JK today?

Jacked up my ugly tube bumper in Moab (Top of the World) that the PO installed. Bought a Sahara bumper for $40, took off the insert and sprayed some matching rattle can base/clear, sanded 800, 1200 & 2000 then cut/polished it. Turned out ok. I've seen a couple of these Sahara bumpers painted...

Toquerville Falls Trail in Southern Utah

If you're ever in the area in Southern Utah and about 1.5 hrs from Las Vegas: Toquerville Falls (trail). Rated moderate to difficult (your choice) and you can get to the waterfalls either way. It's a decent climb and the views are badass... you can even see the back end of the Grand Canyon from...

    3rd gear clicking sound

Update w/ Moab: This Jeep just got the shit beat out of it on Top of the World (Moab) yesterday and rocked Hell's Revenge today. THE DAMN JEEP DIDN'T MAKE THE SOUND AGAIN. It was either the couple of ounces of rear diff fluid added to the 10 mo old juice that's in there OR the tranny cross...

    3rd gear clicking sound

DOES NOT CLICK ANYMORE, after.... 1. I tightened up the nuts on the manual trans cross member. I went about 1.5 turns... Checked the torque after (IIRC 40LBS) and it was good. Changed the clutch last year, maybe my mechanic didn't torque? 2. I topped off the rear gear lube - used about 2oz...
