Snowbird with a '16 JKU Sport

Drove up to the Ford dealer to pick up the wife. Her Taurus needs front brakes and rotors and homey's done with that crap. On the way back, stopped and got my required quantity of $$$$ Royal Purple 75w-140 gear oil for the axle fluid changes. Made the call to the local dealer to schedule...

    Transmission issues

It also helps to actually put the year/model in your request for help. :) The late night info I posted was applicable to JK/JKU models. Once you get the app (and buy the license) and adapter, you'll set tire height by measuring actual tire height and then set the gear ratio. Once you put that...

Your ECU needs to be told of the gear change! This can be done with the JScan app and a compatible OBD programming adapter.

Need help with lift kit purchase for 2012 JKU

As a reminder, you WILL need to do axle gearing if you increase tire diameter. And that’s generally more expensive than that new set of 35” black donuts.

Snowbird with a '16 JKU Sport

What a drive. 20-35 mph crosswinds 80% of the trip. Steering wheel was cranked 5* left just to stay straight. A cinder block dragging a large box has zero aerodynamics. Just over 11mpg average. Got out of the Jeep for the last fillup in Jonesboro and nearly got blowed over.

What did you do to your JK today?

Found four leaky Teraflex shocks. Another on the list to do when I get home. It just started very recently cuz I look at them regularly.

2012 Wrangler Unlimited Sport Tyre Help

And to answer your original question - 295s are ~33” tires. Two inch lift should clear them easily. You’ll need new wheels to get the proper backspacing and prevent rubbing.

JKU: recommended shocks for 1.5" leveling

Two jet skis on a double trailer should be fine. I used to move them by hand at the dealership.

JKU: recommended shocks for 1.5" leveling

To follow up, will you be doing any offroading with it? Or use as a street cruiser? Proper offroading - use the spring kit and proper shocks. On road only - go with the spacer kit.

285/70R can be had in 18" wheel size. :)

    2017 Sahara JKU tire question

Doing a bit of digging on your current tire diameter of 255/70R18 shows about 32" tall with a 10' width. Going up to 285/70r-18 gets you about a 33" tall tire with the same width. Like BlackJKU says, recalibrate for your speedo and transmission to work properly. I'd recommend talking with...

    2017 Sahara JKU tire question

Have you read this thru? https://wranglerjkforum.net/threads/what-is-the-biggest-size-tire-i-can-fit-with-no-lift-on-a-jeep-wrangler-jk.26023/ 3:21 gearing is going to be the biggest drawback. Going larger will kill your torque available. I put 35s on mine and ended up regearing from 3.73 to...

    Sway bar links

Had the same issue with mine when I bought it. A friend with way more knowledge about Jeeps pointed it out at a club meet. Lift requires new sway bar links to keep the bar ends from inverting and doing some serious suspension damage. Probably need fronts also. Ends of front sway bars need to...
