Can you retain factory lockers with new gear sets?

I believe my Rubicon had 3.73 gears originally. I was able to regear to 4.88 without issue. You should be fine.

Vader - 2013 Oscar Mike JKU - Trail Rig Build

Yeah, I'm certain this build project wouldn't be taking place if I lived in an area with those laws. It would probably look a lot closer to a Corvette. lol Width wise I should be the same as a one ton truck, but tire coverage is going to be lacking. Heck 4 wheelers and side by sides are...

Vader - 2013 Oscar Mike JKU - Trail Rig Build

You are spot on! The new axles are 73.5" wide. I believe the stock axles are 65.5" wide. So that gives me 4" on either side. And yes, the wheels also have less back spacing. I'm hoping with all of that plus the trimming I did will allow me a somewhat normal turn radius. I'll find out in a...

Vader - 2013 Oscar Mike JKU - Trail Rig Build

I wasn't planning on it. I haven't seen any of the frame chop bumpers sleeve those. I looked into several different manufactures, they all pretty much mount the exact same way. Not saying its a bad idea. It would add strength.

Vader - 2013 Oscar Mike JKU - Trail Rig Build

Correct. The holes are drilled through the top and bottom of the frame rails. The bolts are fairly long. The bumper has the mounting holes in it. So I set it in place then center punched the top and bottom of the frame. I didn't have long enough drill bits to get all the way through from...

Vader - 2013 Oscar Mike JKU - Trail Rig Build

I rushed home from work and took a few pictures of the raw bumper attached to the frame rails. This is where it will sit on final installation. I'm not sure if you can tell, but it's tucked pretty tight to the front. It will definitely help with the front end approach angle. I placed my...

Vader - 2013 Oscar Mike JKU - Trail Rig Build

This is the weekend I have been waiting for! I take the Jeep in to have the new axles, suspension, steering, and wheels installed. I have waited quite a while for all of the parts to come in and the shop to get me scheduled. However, somehow I still managed to procrastinate enough that I...

Project Detonator - My 2016 JKUR Hard Rock Edition

I can't take credit for that idea either! I saw it on a Trail Recon video. In that video Brad even mentioned he saw it somewhere else as well. I'm a much better copier than I am a creator! lol However, I do like the location for them and it was an easy install overall. I did have issues...

Project Detonator - My 2016 JKUR Hard Rock Edition

Just finished up adding some rock lights and chase lights tonight. Sadly, I have had these rock lights mounted for a few months. I just never took the time to wire them up. I have 8 of the KC Cyclone clear lights underneath. I took some pictures with my head lights off so I could see exactly...

Dave's 2012 JK Call of Duty Edition

Looks good. Do you know how many lumens it is rated at? Should light up quite a bit.

    2022 Patriot X3

This trailer was something that I dreamed about, but never thought I would actually own. I started out buying a military M416 trailer which had a roof top tent. We used it for around 3 years. It works great and we can pack a lot of stuff in that trailer. However, while getting older, my wife...

Vader - 2013 Oscar Mike JKU - Trail Rig Build

Took some time to figure out the Switch Pros. I was finally able to get my JW Speaker Trail Pro 6 lights powered up. I also pulled two wires from the loom and programed them for front and rear lockers. Lockers you say? Good news....the Fusion Elite Kingpin 60 / Elite 80 axles have arrived...

Project Detonator - My 2016 JKUR Hard Rock Edition

Had a few small things to do on Detonator. I bought a set of Rock Slide Engineering gen 3 step sliders for Vader. Northridge was running a special for a free tailgate table with a step slider purchase. So I took the time to install the table today. It was super easy and looks pretty good...

    Dealer Misrepresented Trim

Yes, I would say your Jeep is definitely a Sahara model. I have never seen a Sport model come with painted fender flares. Jeep has offered several different limited edition packages over the years. However, I believe they all fall within the main base packages of Sport, Sahara, or Rubicon...

Vader - 2013 Oscar Mike JKU - Trail Rig Build

Last night I took the time to wire up the Switch Pros - RCR-Force 12. This is what I will be using to connect all of my accessories (lights, lockers, compressors, winch, etc.). The install was fairly straight forward. I need to research a little more on how to start programming the switch...

Does it really matter which brand for mods?

Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with DV8, or Barricade products. However, I did buy and install a set of Metalcloak fenders on my TJ. These were powder coated by Metalcloak. I love the fenders, but after a year or two they began to show rust. Having said all of that, it taught me...

Vader - 2013 Oscar Mike JKU - Trail Rig Build

I found these side markers a couple weeks ago. I must have had them leftover from Detonator, my 2016 build. I set them aside figuring I could use them on Vader. I had to drill out the holes slightly in the flares, but they fit like a charm after that. It didn't take too long to wire them up...

Vader - 2013 Oscar Mike JKU - Trail Rig Build

I took a couple pictures. I placed the level in the center of the tire. The stock tires stick out 3.75" past the Crawler fenders. The crawler fender flares are about 4.5" wide in the middle of the fender well. Nemesis makes 3 different widths of flares. These Crawler flares are the...

Vader - 2013 Oscar Mike JKU - Trail Rig Build

This weekend I replaced my front fender flares. Ripping off the stock flares didn't take much time. I cleaned up underneath, then started to figure out how to mount the new Nemesis Crawler fender flares. Fairly easy install overall. Even for a hack like me with limited ability! Mark 4 holes...

Vader - 2013 Oscar Mike JKU - Trail Rig Build

Took me long enough, but I finally got the VKS rear bumper installed. The frame chop bumper said that the stock exhaust could be in the way. A quick pre-fit made me realize the stock exhaust needed to go. I didn't look around comparing as much as I usually would, but I ended up going with an...
