How do I identify 5.7 Hemi engines?

5.7L and 6.1L Hemi casting numbers are on the front of the block, drivers side. 6.4L Hemi has BG or BGE cast into the side or rear of the block. The transmission will have casting numbers as well, but finding out what engine you have will give you a starting point.

Opinion on this wheel set up please

You will likely be OK with the 35's, but you'd be better off with 4.25"-4.5" backspacing. You're probably going to rub some with 37's. What differential gears do you have? The non-Rubicons typically have 3.23 or 3.73 gears. If you don't regear, the Jeep will be annoying with 35's and a total...

    GPS, whats cool or new?

I've had good luck with Gaia, but I'm mostly using TrailsOffroad lately.

    Always on heated seats?

JKs do not have this feature. JLs do. You can access it through the settings menu on the infotainment system, or with JScan or the Tazer JL-Mini. They're not "always on" though. They turn on if the temp is less than 40F, and you can choose between coming on with all starts, remote starts, as...

Low temps and boiling sounds from 3.8

The sensor can't read the temp if it's in an air bubble. And the Jeep will never, ever, burp itself.

If you don't elevate the nose, you will never get all the air pockets out.

    Thoughts about Gladiator towing capacity

#1 reason. I don't like going slow. The tow rating is more about the chassis and suspension. The JK is rated to tow 2,000 lbs. The JKU 3,500 lbs. The Gladiator 7,000. They can absolutely do that. But the rating is based on how much weight before things start to break. Being able to tow the load...

    Junkyard 1-ton swap!

Nice work. What prompted the swap? Did you break something on the OEM axle? The reason I ask is because I've found a TON (see what I did there) of people running 40's on JL Rubicons like mine. No problems, even with the 392. Which makes me think our JK will be fine.

    Gascap light

I'd agree. I don't think you're going to be able to buy just the neck. And if you can, you'll have to epoxy it in place. So it makes sense to repair it. Be generous with the epoxy.

JKU 1.9L TDI swap: Is it possible?

It's absolutely possible. But if I was doing an engine swap in a 5,000 lb vehicle that is less aerodynamic than your average cow, it wouldn't be a 90HP, 150 lb/ft engine. You'll need a calendar to track your 0-60 time.

    120VAC inverters on the trail

I think those are optional now. ;P

    120VAC inverters on the trail

I don't know how you define "newer", but Mrs. Dogs 2011 has an OEM inverter. I googled it. The OEM inverter is 150W, so it's not going to run a cooler, but it'll power lights, hair driers, that sort of thing. Curiosity satisfied.

    120VAC inverters on the trail

As someone who never uses them... how do these compare to the OEM inverter?

Planning a brief trip to the Grand Canyon and Moab in February, If anybody is going to be in Moab the 15th-17th, hit me up. I don't have everything planned yet, but we are tentatively planning on running Fins & Things, Hells Revenge, and Top of the World, at least.
