Hey everyone!

Gonna be replacing my upper oil pan gasket tomorrow and I've been reading online and seeing in places that the torque lbs should be set to 105lbs. Alot of people and mechanics I have talked to think that is a alot. But since I'm seeing it everywhere, could it be correct? I have a jeep wrangler 2008 sahara. I am replacing it with the Fel Pro gasket.

thanks in advance!

100 ft lbs is what you torque lug nuts at, those pan bolts are pretty small.
Yeah makes total sense. I mis read something. Check out the surface on my upper oil pan. She ll be ready for the new gasket in the morning!

Don't confuse "inch-lbs" and "foot-lbs." There is no oil pan on the planet that needs 105 foot-pounds of torque, and precious few bolts on any part of a Jeep as far as that goes. The criss-crosss pattern of tightening the bolts down is more important with any gasketed join. 105 inch-pounds is only 8.75 foot-pounds (http://extraconversion.com/energy/inch-pounds/inch-pounds-to-foot-pounds.html). Basically they simply need to be snug.
