Relatively new to the Jeep world with transmission issue

I have a 2012 Unlimited with an automatic tranny and 174000 miles. I have been having this transmission problem for months now. I took it to the dealership, they had it for 2 months and replaced the PCM. After spending a good amount of $$, I still have the problem. I will describe it as best as I can.

When normal driving, specifically at low RPMs (2000) and it does not matter what gear I am in, when I steadily press the accelerator as if I am approaching a hill, etc, the transmission makes a hard booming sound and my Jeeps jolts at the same time followed by sluggishness. It does not downshift until I press down on the accelerator much harder or if I manually downshift. It is as if the transmission cannot decide what to do. It does this at least 50% of the time under these conditions.

Instead of the Dealer have you tried taking it to a transmission shop?
That would be my suggestion . Unfortunately and I may get in trouble for this
but "mechanics" at dealerships or your general auto shop are often nothimg
more than code readers .
Bringing them an issue where there is no code hangs them up often.
Read about "mechanics" suggestions on here frequently and they often
get it wrong . Or as in your case don't actually fix the issue after a crazy
amount of time and money, in shop. 2 months . UGH
Transmissions can be viewed as kinda a specialty . So take it to a
shop that specializes and I'm sure they will be able to sort it out.

Yeah, I will find a tranny specialist, initially it didn't seem like a transmission issue, since it was so infrequent.

Son of a gun, I found the problem. It was my crankshaft position sensor that was crapping out. How in the HELL did the dealership not pick this up?
$24 later and I'm on the road again.

Next time I just gotta stop being lazy and do the research myself and always stop running to the dealership every time.

If u didn’t replace that sensor with a oem mopar sensor u probably will be doing it again. Can’t go cheap on these finicky jeeps. Best to go mopar with any type of sensors. If it has a plug on it go mopar. More expensive but pays off in the long run
OEM does not mean better. It means low bid on the contract...

Opinion is not proof. Anecdotes are not science.
How many OEM bits do you think are used in a hard core build?

When Chrysler uses the OEM parts the ECMs are set up for them so that's why sometimes the non OEM parts will cause a problem.

I know I like changing parts only once so if I know it should be OEM that's what i'll use unless it's not available at the time.

IDK about that. I had a 94
Cherokee that lost its CPS at 80K. It was totaled by a different owner at 225K, but never had another CPS issue.
