Need a good Trail Map app

There are a number of apps that are pretty good. The apps I have tried are onX and Gaia, and both do the job. Any app you get should be able to operate without an cell/internet connection. Every app I've looked at adds functionality when you pay for the non-free version. That said, I've always been partial to paper maps (USGS 1:24,000), a decent land navigation compass, and/or a GPS unit. I've worked in the remote field for a long time, and have preferences formed by the experience.
Yes , Gaia is the bomb . Haven’t seen anything else that is as detailed with many features . I should add for up in Canada . Possibly apps avail for the US only that do a good job
I don't have a lot of experience with the different apps, but I have looked at a couple. The guys I watch on YouTube all seem to run Gaia or OnX. I think they are probably the most popular in the offroad community. I also have Avenza Maps. I think Avenza is the official map of the US Forest Service. I find a lot of hiking, biking and other trails as well as OHV trails inside of state and federal lands often have an Avenza map available. Jeep has a 'Badge of Honor' app that looks kind of cool to help you find trails. I also found one called 'Trails Offroad' that looks good. When I was in CO I used COTrex. But that is Colorado only. Finally one of the guys I watch online 'Venture 4wd" has been talking about Thatch. But I've not looked into it yet.
So the list I currently have on my phone, but may or may not have used are:
All Trails - Used a fair amount for finding hiking trails.
COTrex - Used in Colorado
Badge of Honor - Have not used but looks good
Trails offroad - Have not used but looks good
Avenza - I've used on Forest Service lands. Its OK but not great. But that might just be me.
OnX - Have not used but looks good. Highly regarded by others.

Run GAIA as well. Found it to be more accurate and user friendly than OnX. The few instances my brothers (OnX) and I tried mapping hunting trails or offroad trails head-to-head, GAIA won out. The user track function on GAIA is very nice (paid subscription). Seeing waypoints from other users that have traversed the same trail and found interesting spots, gates, campsites, etc.
