Hello I'm looking for some help with a hopefully easy question about wheels and tires for my wife's 2016 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Hardrock. I plan on buying her wheels and tires for Christmas but want to make sure they will work. I'm looking at the XD137 17x9 or 20x9 with General Grabber 35x12.5 tires. At some point down the road I'll get her a lift but in the meantime will the wheels and tires fit at stock ride height? Will the spare tire fit on the stock tire carrier? Obviously I know nothing about Jeeps so thanks in advance for your help!

The spare will be to heavy for the stock carrier, and the tires will likely rub when turning if the backspacing isn't enough or using spacers.

Not sure on the back spacing needed but would be the same as with or no lift. The lift clears the top of the tire for when hitting a bump so the tire doesn't hit the fender.

There is alot of that info on this Forum it's a common question.

Also what gears are in the JK, you'll have to regear if you don't have at least 4.10's.

You'll need a way to reprogram the speedometer for the tire change.

One of your main issues is the offset of the wheels. Others would say backspacing. I did my research focus on offset only. The stock or factory wheels are 44mm or 45mm This meant in order to put Nitto 34'' Grapplers on the jeep I needed an offset of around 10mm - 12mm. I selected the 10mm. The 34's are pushed out on a 17x8.5 wheel.

The other issue you face is not having a lift that will allow you to place your selection of wheel/tires on a stock wrangler. I would do at least a 2.5-3 inch lift. then will an offset wheel of 10-12 mm. Then there is the issue with gears. the Rubicon already or should have 4.10. But in some cases if the previous owner special ordered the Rubi, it could have come with 3.73 gears instead. Not to mention fuel economy. We've found that our 17x8.5 34' x 11.6 with a 2.75 lift & 3.73 gearing gets better gas millage then previously calculated. Because the 34's rotate less than some 35's and even some 33's.

The last issue is the wheels & tires as a single unit on the rear of the jeep. 34'' is going to be the max allowed and it's still heavy even though I've reinforced the tailgate hinges. You'll have to upgrade to a swing out spare carrier.

I`m running these Rims (4.75 back spacing) with 315/70R17 which are 35/12.5 compared with AEV 4.5 lift, no rubbing issues 4.10 gears
