We are considering adding a canopy/awning to the side of our JK.
I see a wide range of sizes, shapes, and prices from a ton of vendors.

How useful is it?
What problems you've had, etc.
Please add a pic and your opinions on how well it works.

One of my primary concerns is that the ones I've seen all require vertical support posts and outrigger ropes that go to tent stakes.
That won't work too easily for tailgating on blacktop, (I could tether the poles to 5-gallon buckets of concrete, but that's a real PITA to deal with).
I'm wondering if there are brands/options that crank out with an integral frame like my neighbors' patio awning...

If you know of any options, please post them up.

I’ve seen a roof rack awning on the uTube channel
“ the story till now “.
It pivots at rear corner so top covers the side & back of Jeep.
If I recall don’t think it used posts . Possibly a couple tie downs in case of sting winds .
I don’t watch channel often so you will have to research it .
Pretty cool though but probably a little expensive .

This is what I did with my Transit Connect camper van. It came from ShadeMaker.

Have you checked out any of the retractable options? They're usually pricier but might solve your setup issues. just a thought, not sure how well they actually work
