What goes here between the rear fender and the rear bumper?

Area behind the rear fenders and the end of the new rear bumper seems to be missing something, now that the bumper doesn’t wrap around the tub…
This may go away on JKs with tube, flat, or non-stock fenders, but I don’t plan on replacing the fenders.

So is there a ‘filler’ that will clean this up?
Perhaps a mud flap-type thing others have seen or can recommend…?

Nothing goes in that space except the factory wrap around bumper .
When upgrading to steel rear bumper your left with that .
I don’t even notice anymore
You’ll get used to it

That plastic piece that's left hanging down
off rear fender about 2-3" after getting rid of factory bumper .
I just cut that off level with rear fender . Looks
cleaner .

I might do these, or something similar that I make myself…

I've been pondering mud flaps for months .
Don't like the big ones as they look so out of place and ugly .
Was kinda thinking of a bracket that would bolt into the
2 excisting holes . Low profile that doesn't hang
down to far cause as @JeepJeezy mentioned would
rip it off while wheeling .
So those brackets may be the answer. As they do sit quite high .
Trim up some larger flaps so hang down doesn't interfere with
obstacles .

Now what about the front ? Something really short . Like 3-4" hang
down would help keep the side of Jeep a little cleaner. Being that
short shouldn't get hung up on anything .
Also where do you attach? Inner part of fender or outer part?
As there is about a 2" space between there between liner and fender.
Same with rear .
Do you attach to liner or Fender . There is that 2" ish gap .

Same exact questions I asked myself.
I’ve got an idea for the rear that would create a small step between the rear fender and the bumper; something to help reach gear on a roof rack or just make washing the top easier.
I also thought about making a short piece that would mimic the factory side bars, just to cover that pinch-weld area and extend the black line that’s below the doors…

I’ll figure out something. It might take a year though! 😂

If I come up with somethimg will share .
Literally months been thinkimg off & on
about this .
So anybody out there.
Show us your mud flaps.lol

I made a few templates today.
This is sort of what I’m going for, but the finished version also incorporates a mid-sized mud flap that will help clean up/finish the flare and liner area.

That’s a good idea . That is a piece of side step you mentioned before .
How would it look if pulled out to outer edge of fender ?

I think it would be too far away from the tub and wouldn’t match the look of the rest of the vehicle; but since I’m still playing with the mounting bracket I will have options.
Waiting for the mud flaps to arrive, but I should be able to mock it up w/ cardboard & duct tape shortly.

Ok I understand . Not wide enough . There would be a gap between added piece and the tub . Yeah that probably wouldn’t look right either

If I am understanding his post correctly, he is planning to put a mud flap between the fender and the OEM slider chunk. That would fill in that area.
