Drove to Estes Park yesterday, to spend some time looking at the scenery in Rocky Mountain National Park. There are no 4x4 trails in the national park systems, but I did find a place called Pole Hill Road. Got about 1/2 mile in and it was gated with 3 padlocks. Spent the day wandering the park. Absolutely gorgeous, and I'll post pictures when I get home. On the way to Estes Park, I learned a couple things. I learned I can be a colossal dumbass. I stopped for gas. I went inside to pee, and when I came out, Mrs Dog was getting something out of the back seat, and had my door open. Which kept me from seeing that the pump nozzle was still in the filler neck... Yes, I did it. I drove away with the hose attached. I heard a noise, and noticed the nozzle in my side mirror. The clerk laughed and said it happens all the time. Turns out they have quick disconnect valves on them just for that reason. What a dumbass. Mrs. Dog has been getting a lot of mileage out of it ever since.
