What are some of your favorite Shovel and Axes? I know there are the trusty old wooden handled ones, but i feel like there are probably better options out there.

I really liked the Gerber Freescape Axe when i used it. I'm not sure of the head weight though.

I have a military shovel/pick (Vietnam era?) that
I paid $10 for at a surplus store 30 years ago. Wooden handled with a spring loaded 5/8" steel square locking post to lock it into a number of positions. Leather blade cover. Unlike the newer foldables with a threaded collar, once locked this won't move. Wish I could find another.

My Father in-law bought me a MAXX Axe back in the 90's. It has been on 4 rigs now. It has axe, shovel, pick, rake etc. Very durable. I linseed the handle every couple of years for maintenance and that is it. I use quick fists to mount it.
