Hey Guys, looking for some advice. I’ve had my Jeep Wrangler for a while now (2011) and just had a new engine put in by a mechanic 2 years ago. It’s warrantied by Chyrsler for 60K. At 59K, the engine broke down on my driveway. I’ve changed the oil regularly, up to date on all service, I have receipts. I haven’t taken this engine off roading, it’s mainly city driving and service it as per the maintenance requirements.
I took it into Chrysler and they don’t want to honour the warranty. This is what they’re telling me:
Remove cylinder head for inspection
Removed oil pan and removed cylinder #6 piston
Found metal debris inside cylinder that has bent side of piston and punched into cylinder head
And bent spark plug.
Can not determine cause of debris
Note found end of O2 sensor broken off
They’re basically telling me that debris, something external, caused one of the cylinders to seize so it’s not a manufacturer defect. I’m not very mechanically inclined (and I think because I’m a woman they’re playing on that as well) but this doesn’t sound right to me.
Has anyone ever dealt with engine warranty problems from Chrysler?
Does this sound right/feasible?
Any kind of input would be helpful.
Thank you!
