2010 wrangler jku islander edition 3.8 with 144k. Engine has a tick. Only at operating temperature and only below 1500 rpm. I believe it’s a lifter gone bad. Higher rpm increases oil pressure. Looking for thoughts on changing the oil viscosity. Have read run thicker oil to keep the lifter filled. Also read thinner to get the oil to the lifter faster. Anybody have any experience or thoughts. Appreciate the help.

When my vehicles start getting close to 100,000 miles on them I usually move up the the next higher weight of oil. Moving parts do wear out and the heavier oil helps.

do a seafoam cleanse of the engine. project farm has an episode from awhile back where just putting some seafoam in the crankcase for a span (watch the vid, should be easy to find) turned a crappy, noisy farm truck completely around. The guy was completely blown away how much it did.

He even came back to it a year or so later and it was still running amazingly.
