My 2016 stock radio took a crap. Cutting out intermittently. I bought a new stock radio but a different part number and it would not turn on. Do I need the exact same part number? Apparently the replacement radios are very similar, but have different different part numbers. Just wondering if anyone had experience replacing their stock radio with another stock radio.

It sounds like the issue could be related to compatibility. Even though the radios may look similar and come from the same manufacturer, different part numbers usually mean there are some variations in the hardware or software. Your car’s system might only be compatible with the exact part number that matches your original radio. I'd recommend checking with the dealer or a trusted source to confirm if the new radio will work with your vehicle’s specific setup.

Also, if you ever have issues with your radio getting locked, you can get your radio code here: https://radiocodepro.com/get-jeep-radio-code-now-wrangler-cherokee-patriot/. This should help unlock it if you run into problems.
