Steering refresh...

Wife's 13 JK is in need of a steering refresh. We tried a few replacement tie rod ends but the bar itself...the threads are messed up enough that I broke a Rigid pipe wrench trying to get things to move enough for a proper tape measure alignment.

There are lots of aluminum options out there. Seems like the Doetsch is favored but is very expensive.

But I'm really leaning towards Barnes.

Price is much more affordable and I've used their stuff a lot on my TJ.

Depends on usage I think. Use it harder and upgrade. Put around on easy dirt roads Id go OEM type replacement. Oh wait...I wait...I just realized it you. I have some 2" OD 1/2 wall pipe I can send you and some Peterbilt tie rod ends you can weld together.

I just rebuilt the D30/D44 in my daughter's Islander and did a few suspension and steering refresh...

I went with the Moog Steering Linkage Assembly, Part# DS800982A. The kit is complete and essentially "bolt in ready". For the cost, simplicity, and OEM fit, unless you're wheeling in situations where you're beating on the steering linkage, I wouldn't hesitate to use this on a solid 35" or smaller JKU build. I live in the rust belt and her OEM steering linkage was able to be freely adjusted, as was mine (and my JKU had 209,000 miles!).
