Well this is another new to JK part for my wifes JK, I had no idea that this needed to be installed first before topping off soft-top installation. now I need new ones, does anyone know if they make these Soft Top Side Bow locks that are just made of metal ?

Is the soft top OEM, aftermarket, without that info we can't help much. Some bow locks are metal and some plastic, it's all based on the top you currently have.

About 2 months ago I bought a 2018 JK Sport two door, I put the Top down once and now it doesn't seen to fit right , I had a 2011 JKU with the Hardtop , in 2014 I bought the Best Top soft top for Hardtops it worked great , just using the Sun Rider doesn't Work as smoothly as it should in my Opinion, yes I bought my 2018 second Hand .. other than the Top everything else works great..
