Buy a Jeep cover and take the top off. With my TJ I once spent an hour with the cover on and me inside during a thunder storm and we both stayed nice and dry. As to temperatures and winter, a jeep will be plenty warm with a soft top. Snow has never been a problem on my soft top. Once I did get worried and push it off half way through an 18" snow fall. Now. if you get hail, hurricanes, and tornados, a hardtop would probably be a much better bet. If I had a 4 door, I might just remove the front doors and panels for an open air feel. On a 2 door raising and lowering the top is easy, I don't know about the 4 door. Don
