Smelling gas after filling up

Every time I fill my 2008 JK gas. After I drive it awhile the odor goes away. Any ideas

I would say you have a leak, probably around the fuel tank. Have you crawled under it and looked for a wet spot or drips?

I’m going to do that, it’s just been so cold here in Denver. Supposed to be warmer for the next few days, I’ll check it out and report back.

Given the age and my experience, it's very possibly a small leak at the top of the tank (the seal under the fuel pump sender), a cracked emissions hose at/near the EVAP canister, or a possibly, a failed purge valve. These usually throw a CEL though as it should be doing the EVAP tests under specific fill-up/temperature conditions.

Thanks for the info, looks like I’m going to have to drop the gas tank. Might as well replace the fuel pump at that time. I definitely check the EVAP hoses first.
