I have a new to me 2011 JK with 84K miles that I am replacing the tie rod and drag link on. Once I got all the old parts off and found no play in any of the rod ends I noticed that my pitman arm has no play when the steering wheel is centered but if I turn the steering wheel a bit either way i can feel some play and hear a clicking in the steering gear when I wiggle the pitman arm side to side. The play and clicking go away as soon as i center the wheel. Is this normal? Or should I replace the steering gear box while I have the front end apart? The main reason I am replacing the tie rod is that the adjuster is too rusted to set toe-in. The jeep doesn't float or drift or anything and there is no free play in the steering wheel, just the slight click when rocking it back and forth.
