Hey Guys,
Before I dig in and add the Mopar Remote Start kit to my 2018 JKU I wanted to ask the experts a few questions...
I plan to have the new supplied keys cut at the hardware and I'll program them myself. I have both original keys to perform this task.
After install of the kit, Do I "have to" take the Jeep to a dealer to program the WIN module or can it be performed with the jscan app that I have already?
I've seen posts with contradicting information.
I don't want to be stranded at home if the WIN module locks me out. I did see a comment that the jeep was disabled after a new WIN module was installed.
I'm more than capable of installing the kit but I figured I'd get some input before diving in.
Thanks in advance
Chris

Many folks have successfully programmed the WIN module using the J-Scan app, provided they have the right firmware version and accessories set up properly. However, the dealer route is often recommended for those who may not feel confident or who have the peace of mind knowing everything is done according to warranty and manufacturer standards.

Doing the programming yourself can definitely save time and money, but do make sure you've got everything backed up. It’s essential to have both original keys when doing this, as you already mentioned. Just make sure to follow the instructions meticulously.

Regarding the concern about getting locked out – if done improperly, there can be issues such as disabling the key fob functions until the WIN module is correctly programmed. Make sure to have detailed instructions from a reliable source.

If you're ever in doubt, it might be useful to have a local dealership's number on hand just in case. A few people have posted about success after following the steps with J-Scan, but others have had to go to the dealership for resolution.

Overall, if you're confident in your skills, go ahead! Just take your time and double-check everything as you go.

Good luck with the install! Let us know how it goes!

If you attempt this on your own with JScan, go to the Apple or Google app store, depending on your phone, and make sure your JScan app is the latest version, performing any updates that may be needed prior to starting the programming.
