Newbie here. If I have 35x12x17 will 35x12.5x17 fit ?

How close are the tires on now at lock to lock on the front when turning?

Then your 12.5 is only about 1/4" wider on each side.

Ok. So it is safe to say I can replace the 35x12 tires with 35x12.5 tires ?

If you have at least a 1" of clearance at lock to lock now you should be ok. If you would ever need to air down your tires for offroading you'll need to allow for that also.

Turning the steering wheel until it won't go anymore and the checking to see how close the sidewalls are from the control arms.

I would be really surprised if you didn’t have rubbing with that size tire unlike you are running an aftermarket rim with a good offset. If factory rims, my money says they will run on tight turns. Let us know!
