Alright, I was hesitant to ask this question as it is difficult to describe the issue, but here we go, I replaced the small speakers with kicker 3.5 CS and married the set with bass blockers; in addition, the 6.5s were replaced with JBL 3 way stage 2 speakers. Everything else is OEM. With the EQ flat, streaming music sounds good with minor bass distortion, but the radio music sound pretty bad as it sounds like someone blowing in to a microphone when the mid-bass/bass hits. To make it tolerable I minus the bass to at least -3 or more depending on the type of music. I am hesitant to spend more money to guess at fixing the issue as I have never had an issue just replacing speakers before.

I have a couple of questions. I know you said everything else is factory but....

1. Is your head unit factory or aftermarket?
2. Are you 100% sure you did not mix polarity on any of the speaker?
3. By streaming, do you mean Bluetooth from your phone or like Sirius from the radio?

I replaced my overhead speakers a few years ago with a pair of Rockford Fosgate and couldn't be happier, once I got the factory head unit (RCE56) EQ & BAL/FADE set up the way I like it. I briefly considered a new head unit, but my reality is I don't drive her more than a couple hours at a time and she already has a bunch of miles on her.

Anyway- no AM/FM radio. I don't live close to a metro area where I can even get a radio station. And having had Sirius/XM for the last 20 years, I'm spoiled with the idea of fewer or no commercials.

The best sound quality I get is from a streaming service, such as Pandora, or the streaming channels on Sirius/XM via BT from my phone. Actual satellite radio channels on Sirius/XM are okay, at best. Bear in mind (someone on this very forum explained) that satellite radio signals have to be compressed to get from up there to down here.

But, as Jeezy alluded to above, it sounds like there's a connectivity issue somewhere.

If you went to a stereo shop the sales men would have said adding bigger speakers wont change the volume. To get better sound it needs a new stereo and amplifier to increase the volume and to get better sound. Changing the speakers is at the end of the line and can get a better sound than stock speakers but it will not louder, not enough amplification.
